Rudy Gay

Fantastic game for Rudy.

The Kings having any real success this year will depend on a few factors:

(1) Consistently giving that kind of effort on D
(2) Moving the ball well
(3) Limiting turnovers
(4) Better perimeter shooting

And most importantly efficient scoring from Boogie and Rudy. Tonight was a phenomenal example of that from Gay. Neither guy needs to drop 40 but 40+ between them on 50% shooting would mean a lot more wins than most expect.

Go Kings!

You need to get out more often; I'll take Bennett and Rice over Napear and Reynolds every day of the week.
I would not. Bennett is not so bad, Rice I particularly don't care for.

I think there are a lot far worse around the league, I think what bothers me so much about Rice is he is extremely well spoken but repeats utter BS to the extent you'd believe him. Compare to say Jerry who spouts a lot of BS homer talking points but is a bit of a buffoon, I find that easier to accept.

But if Rice were to be believed, there is some huge conspiracy against the Blazers in half the games they lose. What I enjoyed tonight was that they actually heaped praise on the team defense, coaching, and Rudy's individual performance. I could swear the last Blazers-Kings game the Kings won it was all the refs fault in Rice's eyes.

For god's sake, man, why?

Fantastic performance, big kudos to Rudy. Today he was clearly being utilized better than in the opener, lots of post ups and coming off screens and or spotting up.

Jerry is literally the nicest mammal since Ghandi. I could never get tired of his corniness. When this team makes the playoffs, every single one of you will be saying "THE GREAT RUDINI" at the top of your lungs when Rudy takes over the game.

Yeah, um ... no freaking way.

Amazing stat from yesterday that the kings showed...we were 20-13 when Gay scored 20pts or more. Small sample size, but that's amazing! If Gay can play consistently every game, there's no reason why he can't make a mini run at MVP.. Of course he probably wouldn't win it over players like Griffin and Paul(NBA loves them), but it would be nice to see.

I'm fairly certain the general numbers trend up the same way with most teams in regards to their best players. I don't think the Thunder win many games when Durant is under 20 points a game, the Cavs do better when Lebron scores over 20, and so on and so forth. Of course you're going to win more games when your best player does better.

Quite frankly, it would be more "amazing" if the numbers said the opposite about players.

Honestly, there is no doubt Rudy Gay is one of the top talents in the NBA. The guy is very skilled and he is one of those players with that "true form" of a basketball player - looks good when dribbling, shooting, doing lay-ups, dunking, rebounding, shot-blocking, defending etc. Very few players have this kind of an aura in court.

But,.....

Somehow and somewhat....maybe because of inconsistency in his effort, his sometimes self-serving mission when playing, lack of leadership on court - he does not belong to the category of MJ, Kobe, and Lebron. He even look like a lesser talent than Carmelo Anthony at times which is really puzzling.

If he can play like he played against Portland in a consistent basis, I think we hit the jackpot on him. I'd rather make him the face of this franchise while we wait for Cousins to emerge and mature.

In other words, GIVE HIM THE KEY and the MONEY!:p

His effort does come and go.

Now, he's got everything in the world to play for. I have no worries he will produce at a high level this year.

I'd be more concerned once he gets the money. But it's not like we have a choice. He's what we have. If we lose him whatever it is we are building dies an abrupt death.

I don't think Gay is a vocal leader although I presume when (if ?) he speaks, people listen. This is why I think he is a perfect wingman to Boogie. I doubt if Gay is comfortable as a leader. I said this all last season. If we are looking ahead to the end of the season, I think his skill, his demeanor, and even his lack of leadership fits well with the Kings and Boogie in particular. He could score in the high 20's with IT gone. Perhaps he needs to score that much. I really like Rudy as uninspiring as he seems to be. :) He's a smooth athlete and that wingspan adds a whole lot to his game around the rim. Let's see how the team evolves. I hope the trading has subsided and we let this team get used to each other for awhile. This assumes a great deal doesn't fall into our lap.

If Nik begins to drain threes, we will have a nice top three in scoring, each with the effect of making the other guy's scoring game easier. I'm happy so far. I must admit it's hard to knock me down. ;)
