No, there was another one ... had a Japanese name, I believe. It was supposed to be incredibly bright so a bunch of us went to the local fire tower lookout... and saw nothing.

We did see Hale-Bopp two nights in a row.

We even had our own local version of a Heaven's Gate suicide up here. He was found in the same kind of clothes as the rest, with the purple hankerchief and everything. I wrote a completely inappropriate song about it, to be sung to the tune of Doo Wah Diddy...

The refrain was "Doo wah diddy diddy. Dumb did he do!"
