However I did have a pressing question.

Considering that Arco Arena is West, How did Maples Pavillion become Arco West? Arco South Maybe, Arco Junior... yeah I might be able to buy that. Even Baby Arco.

But we might want to work on Arco West.

It is a common practice by Sacramento fans to refer to any arena that is further West than Arco, and has many Arco supporters in attendance, as Arco West. Maples may be more South of Arco than West...to be sure, but it is still further west (geographically) than Arco Arena.

I do not know if there is a large contingent or group of Kings fans who travel to Oakland when the Kings play the Golden State Warriors. If so, should the Oakland Arena also be called "Arco West"?

On another note, is there a steady group of Stanford fans who travel to Arco during the WNBA season to see Nicole Powell or any other Stanford alum play? (BTW, how many current WNBA players are from Stanford, aside from Powell, Olympia Scott, and Jamie Carey?) If there are those Cardinal fans who come here regularly, then perhaps Arco should be called..."Maples East"? :D

Yes, many people travel to the Oakland Arena to watch the Kings and Warriors. It has long been called "Arco West".

As for Stanford fans traveling to Monarchs games. I have never heard of this being done on a large scale. Shame too, considering Powell has become a bonafide "star" here.

If a few hundred people make the trek from Palo Alto to ARCO, they can call ARCO whatever they want....

What that quiz taught us, besides the fact that MS&E staff can come up with really obscure questions about Monarchs history...is that despite allllll our complaints about this team in 2007, they actually were better at some stuff than previous year's teams...which I still find hard to believe....Also worth mental noting...yelling "Old Dominion" randomly from the back of the bus at opportune moments when she's trying to read quiz answers can make Ticha laugh.

It felt like "Bring Your Own Olympian" night...we also bussed down our own two-time Olympic gold medalist -Mighty Ruthie on bus 2. DeMya and lil Z hosted bus 3. Our other resident two-time Olympic gold medalist from what we were told wasn't able to make the trip. The players secretly boarded their assigned busses after everybody boarded, camping out would have done nothing to increase the lottery odds.

For a game that was close for a while, then got out of hand it was still fun to watch like an allstar game. Seimone is still very effortlessly good. DT is also still effortlessly good and had a layup she should have dunked ;) but the finger roll was a nice alternative tho.

Speaking of nice alternatives...Kara stepped onto the floor @ around the 14 minute mark and scored about 10 second later. That was actually more of a random thought, what actually was the nice alternative was a play she made -she missed the shot but maaaaaaaaaaaan, I hope she comes home with that in her arsenal over the summer. She jab stepped into the lane, did a pirouette away from her defender and launched a fadeaway that drew iron and bounced out. If she had hit that shot I'm pretty sure the contingent of Monarchs fans would have spontaneously combusted.

When Leslie and Taurasi weren't in the game, Taurasi in particular (Leslie would join her later in the game) would turn around and cue like a cheerleader to make sure we all knew when Kara did something good. I guess two things were at play in this good natured call and response...1. our "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"s were all packed away for the winter and nobody remembered to bring them along ;) 2. as long as they were wearing the red/white/blue we were on the same team that night.

Any more reports?

Damn....

Honestly folks I didn't mean to spark a lengthy discussion about Arco West. My statement wasn't meant to be caddy or degrading, I was just confused why it would be called Arco West. I think 6th suffiecently explained the situation.
Now that the Arco Naming assignment has been vetted, I have one more question.

For those riding on DeMya's bus or anyone that had an opportunity to chat with her; I asked her about the condition of her knee. She mentioned that she was able to run, jump and Sprint on her Knee. (Which I think is very encouraging news) She also mentioned wanting to get overseas for the final month right before Camp opens. (After all you can never really simulate a game scenario.)

Did she go into anymore details about her recovery? Has she blogged or mentioned her progress in her rehab. Is she ahead of schedule? Cause I didn't expect her to be able to sprint until January.

I don't know about her being ahead of schedule or not, if she is planning on going overseas right before camp starts (whenever that is, get the damn CBA done people!) she has changed her tune from September-ish when she was saying she was planning to start playing overseas late Jan/early Feb - which seemed to make Whiz cringe when Guiterrez asked him about it. He was of the opinion that would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay too soon in the timeline they have for her. If she has pushed back and she and the team are now on the same page, that's good news all around.

Just thinking about those kick a...boots Demaya was wearing on the trip.

I would think her knee feels pretty good;)

She & Ticha were decked out. Ruthie was sporting her USA jersey & warm-ups. When ever I see Ruthie, I can't beleive the shape she's in & those biceps...very impressive.
