Kings GM Vlade Divac reportedly didn't know of Luke Walton assault accusations originally appeared on nbcsportsbayarea.com The Sacramento Kings apparently were as surprised as anyone by Monday's reports that coach Luke Walton has been accused of sexual assault. And the team won't make any quick decisions because of it. The Athletic's Sam Amick cited a source in reporting that Kings general manager Vlade Divac, who hired Walton last week on a four-year contract, didn't know about the accusations before they became public.

Luke Walton is being sued by a female reporter claiming sexual assault from a hotel room incident that dates back to before he was hired as the Lakers' head coach (he was recently let go from that position and is currently the coach of the Sacramento Kings). Kelli Tennant, who at the time worked as a host on broadcasts on the Lakers regional sports network, was writing a book and wanted Walton to write the forward, according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ. The two had a business relationship and she agreed to meet him in a Santa Monica hotel to discuss him writing the forward to the book, according to the report.

Kelli Tennant, the former reporter for the Lakers' regional broadcast network who has stepped forward to accuse current Sacramento Kings and former Los Angeles Lakers' coach Luke Walton of sexual assault, stepped in front of the cameras on Tuesday and stated her case. Tennant has filed a civil suit against Walton and she, along with her attorney, conducted a press conference Tuesday in Los Angeles. Tennent said the incident happened before Walton was the Lakers' coach, back in 2016 when he was an assistant with the Golden State Warriors.

Police in Santa Monica, Calif., said a local sports reporter never filed a report accusing Luke Walton of sexual assault, and the Sacramento Kings reportedly weren't aware of the allegations when they hired him as their head coach last week. Santa Monica police told the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday that Walton, 39, is not under investigation. "There has been no report made to the Santa Monica Police Department," Lt. Candice Cobarrubias said in a statement.

Walton, who joined the Kings last week after parting company with the Los Angeles Lakers on April 12, is being sued by reporter Kelli Tennant who alleges he assaulted her at a hotel in Santa Monica in 2014.
