This last draft was projected to be a very weak one. The early results have for the most part backed up those projections. I thought the chances of the Kings getting
a player of any consequence, let alone star potential, was pretty remote in such a shallow draft with few players distinguishing themselves from the pack.
Somehow, the Kings managed to get Tyrese Haliburton at the 12 spot. I still can’t believe it. I’m waiting for the “oh, so THAT’S why he fell so far” moment but it just hasn’t happened to this point. Even Pop and Buford blew it. Kings finally got lucky...or at least for once made the obvious decision when they did get lucky.
Tyrese is essentially already an upgrade over Bogdan(who I like and thought was great In his role) as a rookie...and that’s high praise and I don’t think he is anywhere near a finished product yet.
