I totally agree with wit most of whats being said now about drafting hawes.
Look Petrie probably would have loved (along wit all of us) to have had B.Wright or Noah drop to us. And im positive he tried all he could to make that happen. But with what we have to offer im not suprised that nothing worked. Like me im sure we all kinda had the feeling that one of these players droppin and us trading up wasnt going to happen. Although I think the Bulls semi made a mistake in that they needed a low post scorer and are now loaded with hustle, defensive guys. But I cant fault them for picking the best player available.

truth is i think Hawes would have been a perfect fit for the Bulls. And truth is he could be perfect for the Kings in the near future, if Petrie plays his cards right. I think the only reason that we all lost our minds with this pick is because of are curent front line. I think were all a little gulity of thinking like the Maloofs were, "like what is this team going to do NOW!" instead of what are are best long term moves for our future.

yes our current front line is terrible at Blk,Reb,Jumping,Defense, whatever but Miller, SAR, Thomas, these guys are not part of the plan for our future. Yes they are on the roster RIGHT NOW. but will be long gone by the time this team is back to being a contender.

So we have no idea how well Hawes will reb, blk shots, or defend in the next 2-3 years maybe he works his butt off and actually becomes decent at all of the above(its obviously a reach to say he could be like big ben). but who knows? HES ONLY 19! AND HASNT PLAYED A SINGLE NBA GAME YET! So if after a year if his defense, ect is still an issue well..... I guess we know what were gong to be looking for in our future PF. If we add a solid super athletic big man thats a reb, blk, defense specialist. next to hawes than problem solved. Even better if we can get a franchise PF type player that does everthing score and defend at a high level. Then were looking real set.

of course all of this hinges on Hawes being a solid scorer. and an ok defender. cause if he cant do any of this things then hes just a bust. But i think once we get over the look of the frontline right now. and think about what it could look like when we get our (cross your fingers) stud PF. than i feel like we are lookin good on the rebuild so far. I mean Hawes looks to have nothing in common with Divac or Miller other than being gifted at scoring and passing. HAWES IS 19!, DOESNT SMOKE CIGARETTS, IS IN GOOD SHAPE, HASNT HAD ANY MAJOR INJURYS, IS NOT INJURY PRONE, IS NOT AFRAID TO ACTUALLY WORK OUT, AND IS MOTIVATED TO PROVE EVERYONE WRONG. SO...

lets change the Hawes topic and discuss what were going to do about getting that stud PF, Trading Bibby, Miller, SAR, ect. Or buying out Thomas. what you think?

I do trust in Petrie to do what is in the best intrest of the Kings and it looks like he is willing to hold out on trading Bibby, and Ron to allow their stock to rise again. Ron is in i funny spot with one year being left on his contract and might be more appealing than before, but i think right now that teams are thinkin that he can be had for cheap, think we are desperate to move him. But again maybe the best time to move Ron might be at the trade deadline when the teams looking for a push will be the desperate ones. and willing to opt for a win now, at the price of some youth/picks and talent.

I dont wanna see trades happen just for the sake of making trades and ridding ourselfs of Ron or Bibby. we cant make afford to make anymore bad trades or accept and less than what our players are worth at this point.
