[Rumor] Raptors interested in Malik Monk

You really think this group could go ~20 games over .500 because that is what a 50 win team needs to do. In an west with OKC, Houston, Denver, GoldenState, Lakers, Minnesota, Dallas, San Antonio ……

It’s hard to imagine us with a significant winning record against that group. This team is locked into the 9-10 spot for at least next year.
I think you're reading way too much into my comments...Or maybe you're a bit confused.

What I was trying to say is that, at our peak, going down the current road we're on may only lead us to 2-3 50ish win seasons at some point before we begin to see a dip. Whether those 50ish-win seasons are in the next 3-4 years, 5-7 years, or later, the road we're on may only lead us to 2-3 such seasons.

If we do commit to a rebuild (which, by the way, I would like Vivek to do), what I am saying is, yes, we may have a handful of 20-30-win seasons...BUT, if we rebuild the right way, especially during those 20-30-win seasons, we will follow those 20-30-win seasons with a handful of 50-60-win seasons.

Because what's the pathway out of being a 40-46 win team in the West and into true contender status? Or hell, even just a "for sure" top 6 playoff team? Does trading Monk and DDR get you enough to take a leap?

You think we cannot win more than 40 or 46 games with Sabonis and LaVine? So basically just trade them in hopes that these new players and draft picks are better?

The main reason you go through the draft is because it's literally almost the only way to accumulate real talent but also maintain cap flexibility at the same time while giving your franchise time to build a team and assess as you go. When you trade a player like Fox for what they did, in at best a lateral move that actually made you older when you weren't winning anyway, it's the money and time that will hold a team back in the end. Domas is nearing 30, LaVine is 30. It's not old, but time is not on their side. The Kings always think they can build a team by going out in FA and signing MLE types, or creating a bit of cap space and spending like mad. No, clearly it's how you get stuck. The Kings have done it enough over the years for anyone watching to know how often it doesn't work and even if it does, it can be over in a flash. The Kings were building around Fox. Picking up with the leftover number 2 after him and doing the same is likely a bad bet at this point.
