When can trades begin?

Given that players were traded on draft day, I think trades for players under existing contracts can take place anytime. I think right now folks are waiting to see what happens with free agents before making more moves.

Actually, teams can't officially make trades or sign free agents during the moratorium. So officially not until July 8th. Free agents can give verbal agreements and teams can agree on deals in principle (like the Jermaine O'Neal trade), but they aren't official until the 8th.

July 9th actually. I said in another thread that it was the 15th (that's what it used to be), but I'm pretty sure its actually the 9th
