First of all how does it work picking up a player from the d league. Is there a minimum you have to pay them besides the league min? I only ask because the kings need a back up pg (among other things) sooo bad.
Although the NBDL is the official minor league of the NBA, no team is an affiliate of any specific NBA club. Every player is eligible to be picked up by any of the 29 NBA organizations at any point during the NBDL season. Since the league began in mid-November of last year, four players have been "called up" to play for NBA teams.
That article is outdated. San Antonio and LAL own their D-League teams. No other NBA team can send their players to there. Players whose draft rights aren't owned by any NBA team are Free Agents and can be picked up by any team.
Kings are affiliated with the Bakersfield Jam. That is the team they send their players to if needed.
