Never really seemed to come off of summer vacation. One good game in China with Boogie out (presumably coincidence) and otherwise not only scruffy, but as many noted there are some concerns with the style of scruffy. Of all the Kings he seemed the one to be struggling the most to move the ball, and a major reason for his poor shooting percentage was the high number of contested shots forced into the teeth of the defense, trying to beat double teams etc.

The statline looks no more impressive that the other SF options, but Omri's time out there was actually pretty encouraging. He felt more settled and mature than last time we saw him in these parts. He was confident, knew how to set plays up, despite the low assist numbers he showed he knew how to feed the post, which is critical for us for obvious reasons, and of course he's always been a scrappy guy which is a huge difference between he and DWill. He felt like a solid positive helping hold us in games. Now on the flip side he did not hit his threes, which is of course another critical thing we need and didn't get out of any of the SF candidates in the preseason, and there were flashes of the old Omri not knowing his role, overgunning and once in particular appearing to annoy Malone with it. Not sure why he did not appear in the last couple of games, but certainly hope it was not because a decision was made that he had lost out on the backup SF minutes to DWill, because nothing I saw on the court suggested that was warranted.

By the numbers actually scored the most efficiently of any of the SF options this preseason, but my oh my did those numbers feel empty and one dimensional. Open court dunks intermixed with drives forced into traffic. Huge concerns remain about grit (1.5rebs/gm for a player sometimes called a stretch 4?) and one dimensional play, and still didn't appear there was anybody he could guard at either SF or PF as players drive past him and he was unable to close out effectively. Didn't appear to be much difference form last time we saw him in April.

Gay will round into shape. He is a veteran and even though it may take some time he will be ok. I think Caspi has the backup role. I have no idea what DWill is doing on the floor half the time. He seems so lost. Well he will be a great bench warmer I guess...
