Jason Thompson: 7gms 19.9min 4.1pts (.500 .474) 5.9reb 0.6ast 0.6stl 0.4blk 1.7TO 2.6FL

Every year somebody tries to take this spot from Jason. Rarely before has it seemed so desperately necessary for somebody to do so. From the beginning we get a story of him coming into camp having lost a bunch of weight and now shooting 3ptrs in an apparent attempt to make himself over as a stretch 4 (alarming where that idea might have been hatched from -- coach? front office? hopefully his own bad idea). Then Malone claims he's one of the stara of the opening days of camp. then he claims he wants to average a double double this year. Then preseason hits, his first game is messy, his second game strong and hey maybe he really will...and then hello, its right back to JT. He had a good rebounding game in China filling in at center for Cuz, then entirely disappeared again. Just nothing. Should tattoo it on his forehead. The way he's going we don't have a PF. By the way, its not THAT impossible a position to fill. Now that Boogie has fully emerged there's even a name for the position. Its called Udonis Haslem. PJ Brown. Charles Oakley. A.C Green. Kurt Rambis. Dale Davis. Its a well known position with a long history. But apparently its not called Jason Thompson, despite him blatantly having the closest set of tools to all of the above. But he just can't seem to bring it every night, and really I'm worried about the weight loss. He looks weak out there inside. And oh, the 3pt shooting? Yeah -- he didn't even attempt one the entire preseason. Go figure.

Carl Landry: 7gms 15.1min 6.7pts (.517 .810) 4.1reb 0.6ast 0.3stl 0.0blk 0.6TO 1.6FL

Empty empty stats this preseason when during his good games he had the impact of a wet noodle, and during his bad ones he was getting whipped in there. You want a 6th man to be punchy. Well...Ramon Sessions was. But Carl just felt like he'd occasional get a basket. It never mattered. Even his one game statistical explosion was in no way shape or form as strong as the numbers looked. Some long boards, some gimmes from Cuz. Still, at least there have been some numbers. And his ability to at least get a number when its spoonfed him might make him a best patch next to Cousins despite the lousy fit. Of note for us figuring out how to get a rotation out of these guys, and for the distant mirage of a trade someday. If you buy the per36es he's 16pts 10reb for every 36 minutes. And I have a bridge to sell you. Still the same guy who doesn't do anything else. No passing or defensive stats of any kind.

Eric Moreland: 3gms 6.7min 1.3pts (.500 .000) 1.7reb 0.3ast 0.0stl 0.7blk 0.3TO 0.7FL

After the big summer league, and despite the massive struggles of the frontline guys, Moreland barely got a chance. When he did, he didn't necessarily look ready. He did collect a couple of blocks, but his timing seemed to be off an d he did look comfortable or impactful out there. Would have liked to see him given a real chance to flat start and see what happened though. be hard to do in the regular season, and the other guys have been such schlubs.

lacking some pfs, aren't we? you could include reggie evans, derrick williams, and even casspi.

edit: oh, i see. reggie is on the centers list.

It played his best with cousins sitting. Why Malone dont see JT as the backup center I don't understand. I get it he wants the floor spread with boogie in and Evans is a liability on offense for him to start along side cuz. But when cuz sits and JT sits our frontcourt is unproductive other than rebounds. Almost tempted to start Landry and cuz just to get JT and Evans as reserves. But Landry sucks on defense. Now we could stagger rest periods more so JT or cuz is on floor at all times BUT apparently that's goes against the rec league coaching book where everybody has to play.

It is safe to say we have no legitimate NBA Caliber Starting Power Forwards. Period. Must be addressed at some point in a trade or in the draft.
