How about a bit of levity? To the rankings!

Just how mind-bogglingly bad of a decision was it to fire Mike Malone? Sacramento has gone 3-6 in his wake, seen DeMarcus Cousinsget thrown out of his first game of the year and dothis in the fourth quarter of a game.

No surprise, but Ben McLemore has been one of the best second-year players in the NBA.

The Kings ranked 15th defensively (103.6 points allowed per 100 possessions) when they first lost DeMarcus Cousins to what turned into viral meningitis and 18th (104.2) when they fired coach Mike Malone. They've already fallen to 25th (106.4) under Tyrone Corbin, who's heading toward familiar territory. His Jazz ranked last defensively last season.

"Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair. I am King Ranadive, and ... wait, did I really just sign Ty Corbin for the rest of the season under no duress whatsoever?"

The timing of the Mike Malone firing, which had so many people puzzled when it happened, only looks worse now with the Kings cratering under Ty Corbin. For all the undeniable philosophical differences between coach and management, Malone was reaching Boogie Cousins. Can Corbin?

Rankings are all over the place. No one has any real vibe on what's going on around here.

If team and fan-base morale is taken into account, we should be in the bottom 5. Overall record may indicate otherwise, but having most of those wins come under Coach Malone only makes our current situation feel that much worse.

This pretty much says it all. I got more out of these three sentences than a whole hour of listening to our GM answer people's questions.
