Great win by M's. Now that's what I call playoff Bball Monarch's style. :)

Great defense. Awesome on the boards. pretty good offense too.

Everyone played great!

Nice leadership by Yo and Ticha (10 points! and 7 assists)......Kara and Nicole were FANTASTIC on offense....Bek was a MONSTER on the boards (nice to see her knock down those elbow J's too)....Haynie was great on defense esp on Crossley, nice hustle too and 4 assists to 1 end game TO....Scho-time and Chelsea were aggressive.....Adrian with timely boards.....Coach Boo....great utilization of the bench....thanks for getting Yo and the key players out esp with the game well in hand (no sense in getting an injury).

GO MONARCHS!!!!

Atmosphere was the usual Arco playoff electricity.

PLAYER OF THE GAME - Nicole Powell
Her aggressiveness was on from the jump. She completely abused every small forward that tried to guard her in the post. 9 of 9 from the free throw line tells Nicole's story.

PLAY OF THE GAME - Kara Lawson's deep NBA 3 at the end of the shot clock that put the Monarchs up by 16 midway through the fourth quarter.

STAT OF THE GAME - Silver Stars committed 25 fouls, and the Monarchs scored 28 from the free throw line on 32 attempts.

To the 4 ladies in front of me - we had a ball with you guys. Thanks for making the game even more fun to attend. :D

Glad you had a great time. Now we need to win one in San Antonio. Then you'll have the opportunity to go again. :D

My heart was in my throat when as our lead dwindled (cough, refs), but ya gotta love the intensity finishing up the victory.

The Silver Stars coach said in the postgame interview, "OK, I'll write your story for you - they just outplayed us in the second half!"

Couldn't have said it any better...

BTW, nice to see Ruthie sitting near the Maloofs cheering the gals on. Also saw Randy Brown & Ron Artest enjoying the effort tonight.

I know we're a victory away from saying this, but I'm ready for Round 2!

I loved that shot and so did the Arco fans. :D I had a great time at the game. Had some good and loud ladies next to me. :D (Makes me stand out less. :p )

And you didn't stop by and say hi! :(

It was a great game with many loud fans. Now, Monarchs, please win 1 in San Antonio and bring this home so we can go again.

Great game to watch! The game was close by the halftime, but our girls pulled away and showed us what they're made of! :)

I have two questions:

(1.) I know we got Monty the mascot. And there's even an inflatable Monty. But what's this inflatable mini-Monty that came out during the 3rd period? I don't recall seeing him (it?) before. The name is Chopper or something?

(2.) Was that Erin Buescher behind an announcer's table, along the sidelines, but not where Jim & Krista or any of the other journalists were sitting at? I presume this was for either NBA-TV or the Silver Stars broadcasting team?

I wasn't sure what to expect from this game. I was really hoping to see more hustle and grit than the last couple games of the season. My wishes were granted and they came out with intensity and more focus than has been witnessed in a long time. I agree with George, when it looked like they were coming back. I thought oh please don't let them back in, just slam the door. But they were able to keep their collective composure trudge on.

They kept Becky Hammon from doing too much damage. And I think that was huge. Crossley also didn't have a big scoring night. I've noticed that the Monarchs don't always swarm a player like other teams. Darling gave Nicole fits last time, and she did to a degree last night. Even though she's shorter, she's a freaking pest, ala Debbie Black.

The Monarchs did a good job in the post. SASS didn't do too many of the ally-oops over the white line like they did last time, so it was a nice adjustment they made. I thought I saw Riley limping a bit in the 3rd, but they didn't bring Chantelle in till the 4th.

This was an excellent win showing what this team is capable of. The game on Saturday will be interesting to see how the calls go. The Monarchs were more aggressive and had less fouls called on them, so they did get some momentum. I hope they can keep this intensity up and not let the officiating get to them. Because I'm just about willing to bet they won't be getting the same types of calls.

Just some thoughts to echo much of the same sentiment...fabulous game last night. The Ms came out and played with intensity and aggressiveness and that will always bodes well. As we mentioned in the pre series thread, when they limit their turnovers, are aggressive on the glass, take advantage of their free throws they can withstand a team shooting better than they are from the perimeter.

They definitely aren't likely to get as many FTs next game, I'll join nancgo in being interested to see how the foul calls go. They'll need to shoot better from the floor and continue to control the game flow as they did last night if they want to win the game. The keys are the same regardless because those are definitely things they can control. If they drop that defense on their opponent again, they are going to be hard to beat regardless. But still..stay aggressive and limit your one and dones! Stay on the glass! 17 offensive boards, 24 defensive boards? I think its time to drop another ridiculous rebounding game on somebody ala the game in DC. I would find that incredibly entertaining!

but most of alllll CLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE OUT!!! CLOSE THIS OUT AND COME BACK HOME. NO NEED TO EXTEND YOUR STAY IN TEXAS. FINISH YOUR BUSINESS AND COME BACK HOME ON SUNDAY!!!

Awesome, fun game to witness...brought back memories of the 05 season.
Everyone was focused & for once I saw a team with chemistry.
Beautiful team defense & offense. Who said the Monarchs can't score;)

Just saw a clip of the game on news 10 & K-Law was being interviewed, she mentioned ,she's only packing one pair on underwear! Counting on winning game 2 and heading home...that was funny:)

Yes Steven that was me in that Lawson clip, bowing down to her following an awesome shooting display. Thanks for the link Nanco.

GO MONARCHS...LETS GET THIS GAME!

I didn't see or hear the game but I'll admit to having some real concerns about it. I just didn't think the Monarchs would come out with the same hunger and fire they've shown in the past.

I've now read pretty much every word written about the game and I'm really glad the Monarchs proved me wrong!

Kick major arse in SA, ladies!!!

GO MONARCHS!!!

Hey George you want to start a Monarch game photo thread if it's o.k with the moderators? I stubbled across this one & I'm glad I did.
Those are some excellent shots & everyone is is in focus. Did you get a different lens? Seems it shows more depth...really cool.
For sure it's great having you as a photographer. Thanks!

Little Zachara is a jewel....she is gonna give mama many fun years.
I read she entertained the passengers on the flight to San Antonio!

I'd love to, but I'm doing this via the graces of SPMMagazine, so you'd have to clear it with Mike and the website. I appreciate the thought.
