Great game by the M's. The guard play was great. I think we really have a solid backcourt. I thought Haynie did a great job with Ticha hurt. And as usual Kara was awesome. I think as the season goes along, our offense would continue to improve (I think it's definitely better now than last year).

Signature defense in full force tonight. De Mya, was great tonight too. and don't leave out Powell as well! Great job M's.

Go Monarchs!!!

From the WNBA website, here's the recap of the game:

Here's the boxscore:

I saw only the second half of the game, at Chris Webber's place, Center Court. They've got NBA-TV, which connected themselves to Fox Sports Net North (Minnesota area). There were two other Monarchs fans (who I had not recognized before) that I saw watching the game at the bar.

I didn't know about Ticha's injury. Anyone knows about the extent of it? I assume it took place early in the game, before I got to see it. She played only six minutes.

Great game by K-Law and Haynie!

Turnovers are still a problem. We had 20, as opposed to the Lynx' nine.

Oh well. At least we pulled out a win. I knew that yesterday's game against the Shock would be a tough one. But today's game against the Lynx was one that we had to have, and I was afraid we would let this one slip away. Fortunately, we didn't.

The team gets a day of rest tomorrow and go to D.C., to play the Washington Mystics on Tuesday. Go, M's! :)

On another note, would you believe that the WNBA All-Star Game balloting begins on Tuesday (May 22) already?

Didn't like so many TOs and was getting ticked about letting this young team get back in the game and give them energy and hope. They almost grabbed this game back. Still, there was much to be pleased with as Boucek gains experience and the players get used to her offense.

I didn't realize Ticha got hurt, either. Yo is looking pretty darn gimpy out there. I hope its something that can get better and isn't going to be like this all season.:(

From the SacBee blog:

Penicheiro limited in Monarchs' victory

The Monarchs controlled the glass Sunday in a convincing 74-64 road win against Minnesota, despite limited use of veteran Ticha Penicheiro.
Following the first quarter, Penicheiro sat out the rest of the game with a "twinge in her groin," Monarchs coach Jenny Boucek said.

"We are just being careful with her," Boucek said.

Much Better, much better!!!!

I like what I am seeing offensively from the backcourt (Haynie, Newton, Lawson). At some point Yo and Ticha will get going. Until then it's all about the youngsters.

I also expect Walker to improve. She came very late to camp (and got fined for it).
