possible scenarios !

I personally would prefer the 6th seed due to these reasons:

Imagine these standings at the end of the regular season :
suns
spurs
sonics
mavs
nuggs
kings
rox
grizz

we would play the sonics who are suffering with injuiries like the kings. They are falling off the earth faster than the sonic in a sega genesis game. lol. We
could possibly beat in 6 games , maybe it could stretch out to 7 games.

Mavs have gotten 100% healthy and are looking for revenge aganist the kings for the past playoff rounds. Plus , we don't have miller and bjax to help us win that round. Mavs ,suns and nuggs are playing the best ball in the west without a doubt.

If we are in the sixth seed, we play the winner of 2/7 series. we could play a spurs team with duncan NOT 100% healthy . Heck the rox could even upset the spurs in the first round. I am very sure that kings can beat the rox with b-52 and b-jax in the lineup to provide us with solid 10 deep.

With this in mind, the kings could possibly go to WCF with the sixth seed in my opinion. I think playing the sonics who has no playoff experience like other teams ,and also sonics are losing their focus and confidence day by day. Sonics are falling like the seattle seahawks (fans already feel it there ).

kings 6th seed = WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS !!!

your thoughts........

Some mighty big assumptions about San Antonio and Houston, but I think a lot of people are starting to look at the Sonics as the potential weak link/upset victim of the first round. Beyond that...well, we'll have to see.

Well, it has happened before... ;)

At this point, it just seems as if the Mavs have so much offensive firepower, and if Dampier gets back into shape, a much improved defense. Any chance of the Kings overtaking the Mavs to get the 4th seed is all but forgotten, and Dirk is having an great year.

Still, I'm almost inclined to prefer a Mavs - Suns road to the WCF over any road that goes through the Spurs. Kings just do not matchup well at all with the size the Spurs bring to the game, Parker gives Bibby fits on the defensive end, and Bowen basically owns Peja. I like the Kings right where they are. I'd prefer that they take the fight to Dallas.

I'd personally prefer the Kings doing their best to get in a proper flow of the game. Whoever they get in the playoffs-they can't control- so the best thing for them is to get clickin with their defense and offense.

But if i had to choose which team they would be better playing it would be the sonic, but for them to sacrafice games to do so?- nah. just get back in the flow and whoever you get is whoever you get.

The Kings have the tie breaker over Denver. If the Kings go 3-2 in their final five Denver would have to go 7-0! Not likely looking at the schedule.

Denver and Houston have potentially a HUGE game on the 16th. They are 1-1 so far and that game could decide 6 vs. 7 seed.

The real unknown is what teams have to play for. If Phoenix has clinched the 1 seed in the next week I could see them resting players when we play them the final game of the year. Ditto for other teams who have nothing to play for.

Yeah i dont think the Dever will win with a schedule like this:

Seattle
Golden State
New Orleans
Memphis
@ Houston
@ Phoenix
Portland

if they go 7-0 with that schedule i will be VERY suprised. and the Kings have a great chance of winning 3-2 if they play at the top of there game with this schedule:

L.A. Lakers
@L.A. Lakers
@Phoenix
@Utah
Phoenix

If we win both games against the Lakers, which we should, then win against Utah, or win at least won game against Phoenix, then we will definetly have 3-2. who knows maybe we will win even more!

Until a theotician displays EVERY permutation of line ups with analysis I refuse to accept their hasty conclusions.

Don't forget that the Kings have absolutely NO ONE on their roster that matches up against Rashard Lewis.

He raped our horses and rode off on our women the last couple of times we've played him and the only game we beat the Sonics is the one he didn't play in.

Peja is a good defender, just not against low post athletic SFs. Shard is a 6'10 athletic freak who happens to be shooting great this season from the 3pt area.

I'd personally prefer to the draw the Mavs in the 1st round because we've proven in the past we can beat them, and I think we can handle them this year. Plus, the match ups favor us there. Peja is probably the best cover for Dirk in the league. And Bibby loves the Mavs.

Question....

Saw we slip to #6, and play Seattle in the 1st round... What if Dallas has a better record and we beat Seattle? That means we would thake the #4 spot and Dallas move to #3 since they had the better record and we would than play the #1 team?

Remember that is how we lost home court, and to Dallas in round 2 a couple years back. Anyone know how this would work out if the team we beat in round one being a division leader, woudl that keep us at 3rd seed even though Dallas has a better record and being #4 or would we take that #4 and play Phoenix, where as Dallas would match up with San Antonio?

I like to think that seattle is weak right now (which they are) - but do we know for a fact that they will be short handed come 1st round?? With all of our luck-we'll get all excited about playing them in the first round, and they'll end up having everyone back from injury and ....... well, we know what the worst case scenario could be

Gary, teams are never re-seeded. They retain their seedings for the entire playoffs. Home court advantage is always decided by record, although who you play is decided by your seed.

So, even if Dallas finishes with a better record than the Sonics, the Sonics will end up being the 3rd seed. If they ended up playing each other, even though the Sonics are the 3rd seed and Dallas 4th, Dallas would have home court advantage if they had a better record.

I see.. Thanks for clearing that up with me. You can lose home court because of record, but never have your seed "technically" changed although it might appear so because of the home court. thanks!

If we were to beat Seattle in a 3/6 matchup, and Dallas were to win the 4/5 mathcup we would still play the winner of the 2/7. Dallas would play the winner of the 1/8. The teams are NOT re-seeded after the first round. Dallas could theoretically have a better record than Seattle by the end of the season and that could potentially factor into the WCF.

it doesn't make that much of a difference to me who the kings face.

between the mavs and sonics: it's either no D, or a team that is reeling right now. the sonics have no rad man, and rashard is hurt now, so if he comes back i don't expect him to be at full strength. also fortsen is imploding.

dallas is deep, but their D is always a question mark, and avery isn;t playoff tested, damp has never played in the playoffs either. terry also for that matter ....

we shall see what happens with that. bring anyone on!!!!

GO KINGS!

Do you guys think its really possible to fall to 7th or even 8th in these next 5 games...people are still expecting us to fall down that far so their teams can play us....do you really think this likely or do you think 6th is low as we can go...personally I believe we'll end up staying 5th...but its weird to hear so many people not seeing that happening (non Kings fans ofcourse)

Going by just the loss column -- If Sac loses two more games out of their next 5, they could drop down to the 8th seed. Their lead right now over the other teams for the 5th seed is precarious.

That said, there's 5 games left, and Sac currently has a solid lead to either grab the 5th or 6th seed. Plus they're playing teams they're capable of beating, and possibly by the time they play the Suns, Phoenix might not have much left to play for in the regular season.

Odds are good that Sac finishes with either the 5th or 6th seed. Likely the 5th as the remaining games that Houston has are tough ones and they should lose one or two of them.

Sonics are now ranked the 4th seed, according to ESPN.com. Probably a mistake or something. But if that's indeed the case, the Kings are better off 5th.

Its ranked by record I'm sure...the Sonics will still hold on to the 3 seed only Dallas will have the better record

personally i HATE how they are doing that this year...it should just be the 8 best teams from each conference make the POs...it hasn't really been a big deal for the west but when you look in the East Boston has the 3rd spot and like Chicago, Washington have a better record...really Boston should be in the 7th to 8th spot...I just hate how they are doing that this year...its stupid if you ask me

The most dangerous in the west is Denver w/o a doubt. I know they will pass houston for sure , the question is whether they will pass us or not . Denver has four home games in a row : sonics(falling ) , warriors(can almost beat anyone right now ), Hornets (this could be a blowout in denver ), memphis (interesting matchup for sure ). Then at houston , and phx and finish at home vs blazers.

So Denver could go either 6-1 or 7-0 . I will be really surprised if they can go undefeated rest of the way.

Kings could go 4-1 or 3-2 depends on which team shows up .

If this happens, imagine what would happen to seedings !

Dallas still has a chance to win their division.

Denver also has a chance to win their division.

I know it is 99.99 % not going to happen , but you never know.....

Nuggets are beating the living out of the sonics, sonics are pretty much done . They won their share of 50 + games, but they will lose in the first round considering radmonvic is out and lewis is out also.
