I consider myself one of the more "pollyannish" fans. I, too, prefer to stay positve and look at the good - even when near impossible to do so. Honestly though, I have a STRONG realist streak in me. The fact of the matter is, our team is NOT good right now. Admitting that is not being a fair weather fan. It is being honest.
I, along with many others on this board, have been fans for a long time. We remember when a 30 win season would have been a successful year. Now, a 30 win season is no longer acceptable. We expect more because we have tasted more. Expecting to be a good team and being disappointed when we are not does not mean our level of "fanhood" is low.
I choose to not bash specific players. However, I cannot deny the evidence that certain players are not living up to their expectations. I have no problem when that is pointed out. I do not say "WE MUST GET RID OF PLAYER X," but I will openly question if we would be better without him.
I DETEST booing our team. I would never do it. But I would not judge another fan's commitment to the team if he / she does.
Every fan reacts differently when their favorite team struggles. Most of us are heavily invested in this team with money, time, and emotion. I PREFER TO STAY POSITVE AND HOPEFUL THAT WE WILL BE BETTER SOON. I choose to support each player as long as he is wearing a King's jersey. I also, from time to time, must look at the cold hard facts. We are not good. When I do, I get mad, sad, or frustrated with how we got in this mess. We will all react differently. Just be careful not to judge another's commitment based on how they react.
