Portland rumors (merged)

All-Star
Oregonian - Rumors have surfaced that Denver is talking with the Blazers about sending injured power forward Nene to Portland in exchange for Travis Outlaw and Joel Przybilla.

But McMillan said he had only a brief conversation with team president Steve Patterson about trades during the All-Star break, and when asked what he thought the Blazers would do before the trading deadline, McMillan was somber.

"Nothing. But you never know," McMillan said. "I think teams know that day is a couple of days away, and all the bluffing and bull that is starting, because you gotta do some stuff now . . . I don't know. You know, I can't even speak to that."

Both Outlaw and Pryzbilla are good young players with upside.

Would be a great trade for the Nuggets, but could be another step-back and a iffy trade for Portland.

Don't see it happening.

Przybilla & Outlaw

According to ESPN Przybilla and Outlaw are available and looking to move for Nene.

If they are available for Nene - I would get in on that.

Outlaw is an athletic FREAK OF NATURE! I could see him developing into a real stud. He's not smart on the court - but he's a sparkplug. He's good off the ball on defense and is pretty solid on the ball. He'd be an awesome guy to backup Martin/Garcia/Artest.

Przybilla is a defensive center that clogs a lane. He doesn't need the ball on offense and is just a massive body on defense. He blocks his fair share of shots.

I love Przybilla's game. As long as Bibby felt OK with taking over all of the ball distribution than I would totally jump on that.

Does Przybilla do good against anyone NOT wearing a Kings uniform or is he just another Jerome James?

If he doesn't have any kind of court smarts, he doesn't need to come here. We already have our designated "bench holder-downer" positions filled.

He's young. Real young. Only 21.

But, he's a freak. Like Shawn Marion style freak. He can leap through the roof and gives effort.

His big problem is that he's not got the opportunity to develop. This guy has the potential to be an all-star.

He's a good defender with tremendous upside offensively. He's come off the bench, no doubt - but could fill the roll of Artest or Martin ... and possibly spell Abdur-Rahim a bit.

This is an untapped talent.

"This is an untapped talent."

I believe they said the same thing once upon a time about Joe Kleine...

;)

Yeah, this guy is a monster.

2.5 BPG this year. Holds his opponent to a PER of 14.7 and 46% shooting (from the CENTER spot - that's awesome!). Considering that's on-par with Shaq and just a smidgeon above Zo ... that's pretty impressive.

He's a TRUE CENTER. 7'1" and tough.

He won't get us points and only shoots from about 5 feet in ... but he's efficient and not stupid.

His big problem is fouls. I used to call him Foulzilla, rather than Pryzbilla ... but he's also on a team that he has to constant make up for their lack of defense.

He'd definitely be an asset defensively, even if he's off the bench.

That may be true - but I've seen this kid. He WANTS to learn. He WANTS to play.

He's not some Kwame Brown/Darius Miles type that has all the physical gifts but no brain.

He'd be a throw in with Przybilla being the big fish in the deal.

It's possible we could offer Skinner and/or Thomas to get this done. They NEED a center.

I'd offer something like Skinner, Corliss for Outlaw, Przybilla, Patterson.

They do it because they NEED an active center and it unloads malcontent Patterson. We do it because it gives us some serious defensive bonuses.

I'm a big Outlaw fan as well. He could really be something. However, short of giving up Garcia or Martin I really don't see how the Kings could get Outlaw and/or Przybilla.

I would easily give up a draft pick ...

I would trade Miller, if I had to.

The only players, from a Sacramento perspective, I wouldn't trade for them are:

Bibby, Artest, Martin, Garcia

As a Reef homer, I'd throw Reef in that mix.

Anyone else is fair game, especially if we are talking about one of their little PGs of the future. Telflair has skill! If we could get him (or Jack), Outlaw, Przy ... I'd pretty much make Artest the only untouchable.

I'm looking at it from Portland's perspective. They want young people, not journeymen. They're rebuilding. Unless the Kings are willing to part with some of their youngsters I don't see how it makes sense for Portland. The Nene deal, even if it's crap, at least satisfies their need for youth.

I agree, they are on a youth kick. But, they also need some veterans to get the team to work. I just couldn't see them saying no to an offer of Brad Miller.

I'd let them unload Patterson, which would be HUGE for them.

I might be swayed to move Garcia, although it'd be tough. Real tough. I just think that Przy answers A LOT of our immediate needs.

For Brad Miller? And Cisco?? Uh...no.

I like Pryz, but not like that.

Let alone taking back the nanny raper in the deal. Screw that.

I realize that is a misspelling, but that is a good nickname if he can come here. Especially since I've heard that he is a very flashy young PG, TelFlair. I like it(although a lot of other people probably don't).

Well, I posted this story in the NBA forum awhile ago, but isn't this for Kings related stuff?

I really like both, been a fan of Outlaw since his soph season, and Pryzbilla since last year when he exploded.

Regardless, I don't know if we could get either of them without giving up Garcia or Martin. But also they have said a number of times this season they want more veterans, so who knows.

I'd love to get Pryzbilla, and Outlaw would be a terrific throw-in (they have too many young SFs). He doesn't get much time, but is hungry and willing.

If I remember correctly Pryzbilla will be FA coming summer maybe Outlaw too, do you think we have enough $ to resign both?

And it shouldn't be too hard to get them if you willing to take ruben or Theo or Miles + Outlaw + Pryzbilla for some picks + expire contract.

I have been wanting these two guys for awhile now. Outlaw has SERIOUS potential. I think he'll eventually transition to the 4 spot.

I don't want them or any other player in the NBA enough to take Ruben Patterson.

You're probably right.

Nanny-Raper is a good player though and a phenominal defender. Boot him after his contracts up.

Wasn't a misspelling.

Switch Ruben with Theo then.

Theo's weighed down with a nasty contract though.

I didn't realize they were both Free Agents next year ... I'd try to sign them outright.

while joel pryzbilla is really only a monster when he plays the kings, he's still a young big man who would solve some of our rebounding/interior defensive problems. the new problem that arises, of course, is what do you do with miller? pryzbilla isn't a PF/C. he's slow and basically confined to the 5. offensively, the kings used to kill with divac at the 5 and miller at the 4, but i do not think you could pull that off with miller and pryzbilla.

that said, he'd certainly be a more than capable backup for brad. i don't know how much money the kings would want to throw at a backup center, but we certainly wouldn't be dealing with size issues anymore off the bench. the size/rebounding/interior defense problems at the starting 4 would remain, but i think it might be worthwhile to pursue pryzbilla in the offseason, if not in some sort of trade (philly contracts, maybe? i dunno what pryzbilla's contract looks like).

LA Times - In what could be his last game in a Portland uniform, Ruben Patterson scored 25 points in a 110-106 loss against the Bobcats.

After the game, Patterson exclaimed to those gathered outside the Blazers' locker room" "Bang, bang! What a way to go out, hey?"

Patterson, however, would not formally confirm a deal was in the works to move him out of Portland.

"I just want to be happy," he said. "I'm tired of losing, man."

Also mentioned in numerous rumors has been Travis Outlaw who said: "You've got to wait and see."

Wonder if he really is going to the Heat? I think he'd be a great fit for them as a versatile spark off the bench, which the Heat don't have. Walker's proved to be up and down.

On the news here tonight they said Patterson would likely wind up in either NY or involved in a 3-way trade with Seattle and Denver.
