The dude was waived the other day. I think he would fit in well with this group of guys as a big off the bench. Hes a great shot blocker, and he does all the scrappy type of rebounding and hustle this team is living off of.

He's still pretty young at 26...

I think this move could help our front line alot.. We dont really have a crazy athletic guy like pops that we can throw into the game. i think he would fit in perfect with this team.

Remember that Houston team we played last night with no front line and a 6'6" center? They're the ones that waived him. That's gotta say something.

Yah im also from Canada and watched everygame he played for the raptors and he played very well when given a chance. he wasnt even given a chance in Houston. This is the type of defensive big we need.

I don't think I would throw out the word Great and attach it to shot blocker with him. In his first two years in the league he played a grand total of 283 minutes. In that time he blocked 5 shots. His rebounding totals are just average at best.

Now its possible that he just hasn't had the chance to really show what he can do. I have no idea. I can only go on what he has done so far. One would have to ask why Houston, who is vertically challenged, would just cut him. And who would we cut in order to make room? May is the obvious choice, but he has a guaranteed contract. So he gets paid whether he's cut or not.

i just remember watching him in the preseason and he had got a lot of playing time one game and had about 5 or 6 blocks. Yea his stats dont show it because the most hes played per game is like 12 minutes.
I just thought with the way this team is headed, why not add another scrapper/rebounder/defense/athletic big guy at the position we need filled the most.. Especially with Hawes having on and off Games.

I don't have any problem adding him with a non guaranteed contract till Jan. The problem is that we would have to cut someone in order to do it and I believe everyone on the current roster has a guaranteed contract. So we would be eating a contract to take a chance on him. I think you'd have to be pretty sure of what your getting from him before you do that.

I like Mensah-Bonsu, but I'll add this qualifier first: the dude is pretty much a poor man's Jason Thompson in terms of productivity. Granted, yes, he's much more athletic, but in terms of rebounding and their abilities to shoot around the basket, they're just very similar. Mensah-Bonsu also plays like an energizer bunny, but also plays super fast and spends most of his time grabbing offensive rebounds off his own misses, which happen frequently. And he doesn't even have JT's mid-range game, and his defense is of the foul prone sort because he doesn't have the fundamentals down pat, much like JT. So not sure what we're adding here, and it's much preferred we get a taller shotblocker.
