Artest is a addition by substraction. The picks are just bonus. I believe the Odom for Artest ship has sailed. We just missed a very good chance to unload a cancer to the Lakers so...like they say, beggars can't be choosers.questions.
why would you trade artest for just picks
why would you trade spencer instead of thompson
why would you trade martin and artest for carmello??? denver doesnt even want carmello.

Why would you send Hawes packing based on one summer league from Thompson? Thompson hasn't done squat yet in the NBA. This is like when college football fans are drooling over new recruits before they even set foot on campus, proclaiming them future stars. I'm curious on this one.Thompson has more upside from this oberver's point of view. Keeping both might not be a bad idea either. Just saying if a team is offering something good but ask for either Hawes or Thompson in return, I would choose to send Hawes packing without a second glance.
Some of these options seem logical, but when you call it best rebuilding move, it should be something that could happen. I don't see mgmt. moving Hawes or giving up on Martin considering the opportunity he (both) will have this year. I'm not sure if these options are meant to be realistic or pie-in-the-sky or a combination of both.Carmelo is a true superstar. Denver have love/hate relationship with Carmelo but that doesn't mean they're going to start a firesale for him. Are we or are we not looking for a true superstar to be the leader of this team?

There are superstars and there are legends. Those players you compare Carmelo to are legends so yeah, the answer is obvious. I'm thinking more of the line of someone you could "build a team around" kind of superstar. Hell, if Artest and Martin can land us Lebron James, I'll sacrifice my left balls to Lucifer, himself. If you think that Carmelo Anthony is a superstar, then you have really lowered your standards. Who would you rather have? Carmelo or Jordan. Who would you rather have? Carmelo or Bird. Who would you rather have? Carmelo or Magic. I could go on endlessly. Those people were superstars, a word, by the way that I detest, but I'm stuck with.
This is by no means a knock on Carmelo. I think he's a pretty darn good player. He came into the league at the same time as LeBron. Tell me. Who would you rather have? James or Carmelo. I know who I would rather have.
I think so. Kwame Brown got $4 million and George is better than him.Devean George is a MLE type player?

He is just an example though.

But, I do believe Artest and Martin can land us Carmelo since he has his own issues (offcourt, suspect defense) with Denver. Still, the guy is basically a scoring machine and a clutch player to boot. Think about it, he can score in so many different ways from outside the 3-point line to the low block. When was the last time we have that kind of player?
Historically big men always get paid more (or overpaid, depending on how you see it)--besides Kwame's still only 27 and has the defensive ability only a moth, er, I mean, Joe Dumars, would love.
As for George, he's a 32-33 year old veteran who's just living off his past reputation (3 rings with Lakers?) rather than any actual game. He's a minimum type player.
