Sarunas Marciulionis
Born: June 13, 1964
Number: 13
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 200
Position: SG
Yrs w/Kings: 1995-96 (1 year)
How Acquired: Traded (SEA/SAC) Sep. 1995 with Byron Houston for Frank Brickowski
How Departed: Traded (SAC/DEN) Jun. 1996 with a 2nd round pick (became Jeff McInnis) for Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf

A physical European legend nearing the end of his career and slowed by injuries, Marciulionis was brought in to resume the role he had first had upon entering the NBA as Mitch Richmond's backup. Rooney was still an elite penetrating guard, and by that point in his career had really begun to stroke the three. But defensive mobility had never been great and injuries had not helped, and chronic knee and ankle problems limited the games he could appear in on the court.

International & Pre Kings Career
Marciulionis came up in the old Soviet system while Lithuania was still part of the Soviet Union. Along with Arvydas Sabonis, he helped lead the 1988 Soviet team to the gold medal in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Drafted by the Warriors in the 6th round of the 1987 Draft, thawing East/West relations allowed him to join the team for the 1989 season. In 4 years for the Warriors he was a high scoring reserve on the Run TMC teams of the late 80s/early 90s, and annually one of the league's best 6th men. In 1991-92 he had his career best year, averaging 18.9pts on .538 shooting in only 29.4min/gm. Major injuries, including a freak broken leg/dislocated ankle injury suffered while jogging, derailed his career, and caused him to sit out half of 1992-93 and all of 1993-94. Eventually he was traded to Seattle, and then the Kings.

Post Kings Career
Marciulionis would play in only 17 games for Denver after the trade before injuries forced him to call it a career.

Post NBA Career
Marciulionis was already heavily involved in Lithuanian basketball circles even while he was still playing, and is largely credited with putting together the Lithuanian National Team program after Lithuania's independence from Russia in 1990. Since his retirement he has gone on to become one of the biggest businessmen in Lithuania, owns a hotel in Vilnius, runs a basketball academy, and has started several basketball leagues.

In 2014 Marciulionis was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Darrick Martin
Born: March 6, 1971
Number: 15
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 170
Position: PG
Yrs w/Kings: 1999-01 (2 years)
How Acquired: Free agent Aug. 1999
How Departed: Free agent 2001

A small streaky shotchucking point guard with an inflated opinion of himself, Martin had been starting in a low level platoon for the Clippers, then came to a Sacramento team on the rise and played a selfish game, neither passing, defending, nor hitting his shots. He quickly fell out of favor with Coach Adelman, played sparingly in his second season with the team, and was not retained after his contract ran out.

College & Pre Kings Career
Martin was a midlevel starter during his first 3 years at UCLA, but during his senior season not only did he not start, he was involved in a 3 man platoon with Gerald Madkins and another future King, Tyus Edney. The result was that Maritn averaged only 5.6pts in 19.5min a game as a senior, and went undrafted.

After a year off, he remerged in the CBA in 1994, and got his first taste of the NBA on pair of 10 day contracts with Minnesota in 1995 which led to a contract for the remainder of the season. He would thereafter bounce from Vancouver, back to Minnesota, then to the Clippers where he platooned as a starter before finally ending up on the Kings.

Post Kings Career
Martin kept on bouncing into and out of the NBA for years after leaving the Kings, playing for 4 more NBA teams as well as teams in Russia, the CBA, the IBA (where he briefly reteamed with Tyus Edney) and even a tour with the Harlem Globetrotters. His last NBA stop was Toronto for the 2007-08 season at age 36.

Post NBA Career
In 2009 Martin joined the Minnesota Timberwolves front office as director of player development.

Travis Mays
Born: June 19, 1968
Number: 1
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190
Position: PG/SG
Yrs w/Kings: 1990-91 (1 year)
How Acquired: Drafted First Round (#14 overall) 1990 Draft
How Departed: Traded (SAC/ATL) Jul. 1991 for Spud Webb and a 2nd round pick (became Lawrence Funderburke)

A highscoring but woefully undersized college shooting guard that the Kings tried to make into a point guard to better fit his 6'2" frame. As so often happens in such cases, the position change did not take and Mays looked uncomfortable and struggled with efficiency during a rookie season split between the two guard spots. He was traded after the season was over to the Hawks for Spud Webb and a pick that became Lawrence Funderburke.

College
Mays was a huge scorer at the University of Texas, averaging 24.1pts as a senior and becoming a 2nd Team All American. Questions about his size and NBA position caused him to sink in the draft until he was still available for the Kings with the second of their record four first round picks that season.

Post Kings Career
Mays never had much of a chance after his trade to Atlanta, as 2 games into his sophomore season he ruptured the tendons of his right ankle and was lost for the season. He would come back the next season and play 49 games, mostly off the bench, and that was it for his NBA career.

Post NBA Career
Mays spent a year in the CBA, then headed to Europe where he continued his career for nearly a decade before finally hanging up his sneakers in 2002. After his basketball career he moved into assistant coaching and scouting, first in the WNBA, then back at his alma mater in Texas, and since 2007 has been an assistant coach and recruiter for the LSU women's team.

Luc Mbah a Moute
Born: September 9, 1986
Number: 33
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 230
Position: SF/PF
Yrs w/Kings: 2013-14 (1 year)
How Acquired: Traded (MIL/SAC) July 2013 for 2 2nd round picks
How Departed: Traded (SAC/MIN) Nov. 2013 for Derrick Williams

A noted hustling defensive specialist caught between forward positions and now suffering from knee woes, in his short (9 game) Kings stint Mbah a Moute (nicknamed Prince because he is the son of a local ruler in his native Cameroon) flashed some of defensive ability but may never have been intended as a long term solution. He was picked up over the summer for a pair of 2nd round picks, and stayed on the active roster just long enough to prove the knees were semi-healthy before he was shipped off to Minnesota for Derrick Williams.

College & Pre Kings Career
After a 3 year career at UCLA, where even at the NCAA level he was a roleplayer, Mbah a Moute was taken in the 2nd round (#37 overall) of the 2008 Draft by Milwaulkee. For the first 5 years of his career he would platoon start in about half of his career games, never averaging more than 7.7pts in any season and not really being perfectly fit for either forward spot, but winning defensive accolades and being a particular favorite of Bucks Coach Scott Skiles. Knee problems began to slow him in his final two Milwaulkee seasons however, leading to the Bucks to dump him to the Kings for a pair of 2nd round picks.

Post Kings Career
Luc played out the season with the Wolves in a limited bench role, and then was traded in Aug. 2014 in a multi-player deal to Philadelphia for Thaddeus Young.

Yrs w/Kings: 2009-10 (1 year)
How Acquired: Traded (WSH/SAC) Feb. 2010 for a 2nd round pick
How Departed: free agency 2010

Versatile defensive roleplayer with no offensive potency at all, McGuire was picked up for virtually nothing midyear 2009-10, barely played, got hurt, and was let walk after the season.

College & Pre Kings Career
McGuire started his college career at Cal, but transferred to Fresno State after his sophomore season, and had some mild success there as a senior, averaging 13.8pts and 9.8rebs. It was enough for Washington to take him I the 2nd round (#47) of the 2007 Draft. He would stay with Washington for 2 1/2 seasons, barely playing in his first and third year, but actually being used as a starter throughout most of his sophomore campaign. But despite the defense, as a starter he was so offensively invisible that he only averaged 4.5pts a game in 26.2min on the season.

Post Kings Career
Since leaving the Kings McGuire has bounced in and out of the NBA, being picked up and waived again and again a she played for 5 teams between the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons. Finally in 2013 he was cut at the end of training camp by the Jazz, and ended up spending 2013-14 in the D-League (where he was predictably traded as well).

How Departed: waived July 2006

Homesick Russian who's one contribution to the NBA was one gloriously cheesy beefcake poster. Had been given limited minutes in Portland and not panned out, then was traded at the 2006 trade deadline to the Kings where he sat on the bench for all but 3 games and a grand total of 7 minutes. He was waived during the offseason at his request so he could return home to Russia.

International & Pre Kings Career
Monia had stuck close to home as a young player, playing in Russia and he Ukraine before being taken by the Blazers with the 23rd pick in the 2004 draft. When he came to Portland a year later, he was not ready, struggling to .333 shooting and a 6.3PER before being shuffled off to the Kings.

Post NBA Career
True to his word, Monia retreated to the Russian leagues and has never left, playing in the Moscow region ever since 2006.

Mark Olberding
Born: April 21, 1956
Number: 53
Height: 6'8"
Weight: 225
Position: PF
Yrs w/Kings: 1985-87 (2 years) (but also 1983-85 with Kansas City before the team came to Sacramento)
How Acquired: arrived with team 1985
How Departed: retired 1987

Old school enforcer arrived with the team in Sacramento as its starting PF. Was undersized as a starter, but certainly not going to give an inch physically. Had some feel as a passer, otherwise his job was purely to hustle. All the physical battles perhaps had prematurely aged him, as he felt older than the 29-30 he was with the Kings. Was rapidly displaced by the emerging Otis Thorpe in his second season, and called it a career at the end of the year.

College & Pre Kings Career
Olberding played a single year at Minnesota way back in 1974-75, and then took what was a very unusual route back then, and hopped right into the ABA at age 19. After starting his career with the San Diego Sails (renamed San Diego Conquistadors) who folded early in the season, Olberding was picked up by the Spurs, where he spent the bulk of his career, 7 years, forming part of the "Bruise Brothers" frontline gang of hardworking scrappers. He was traded by the Spurs in 1982 as part of a deal to get Artis Gilmore, and a year later was traded to the then Kansas City Kings, with whom he would finish his career.

Post NBA Career
Olberding did spend 1 year after the NBA playing in Italy before retiring entirely, and now coaches at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Position: SG/SF
Yrs w/Kings: 2003-04 (1 year)
How Acquired: free agent Aug. 2003
How Departed: free agent 2004

Aging veteran shooting guard who was a little undersized for the position and earlier in his career had played some PG as well. And yet the Kings often used him as a reserve SF to replace the departed Hedo Turkoglu and Jim Jackson. Hardnosed player who had become a knockdown three point shooter, and led the entire NBA with a ridiculous .482 three point shooting mark in his only season with the Kings. Notoriously blew it at the biggest moment of the season when he lost his temper with former teammate Kevin Garnett in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals and threw a punch, thus getting himself suspended for Game 7 and forcing into action little used Rodney Buford instead. The Kings would lose that game by 3 points as Chris Webber's desperation game tying three rolled off at the buzzer.

College & Pre Kings Career
Peeler was a 4 year star at Missouri and averaged 23.4pts/gm as a senior on his way to Second Team All American honors. He was taken by the Lakers in the first round (#15 overall) of the 1992 Draft. While he would have perhaps his biggest raw statistical years with the Lakers and later the Vancouver Grizzlies, he likely became better known for his later career work as a longtime platooning distance shooter for Minnesota through the early and mid Kevin Garnett years. By the time he reached the Kings he was 34 and in his 11th season.

Post Kings Career
Peeler would sign with Washington and play one more NBA season in 2004-05 before calling it a career.

Post NBA Career
After the NBA, Peeler moved into coaching, initially gaining experience in China, and then returning to the States where he is currently an assistant coach at Virginia Union.

Position: PF/C
Yrs w/Kings: 1993-94 (1 year)
How Acquired: Drafted Second Round (#52 overall) 1993 Draft
How Departed: Waived Nov. 1994

Huge widebody with no real skills or length, Peplowski wasn't even a star in college, and was strictly a deep bencher in the NBA. he had his best season, indeed his only complete season, in the NBA with the Kings and averaged 3.2pts 3.1reb. He might be best remembered as the player who found Bobby Hurley lying in a ditch after Hurley was thrown from his car in a near fatal collision, and who tended to him until paramedics arrived.

College
Peplowski played 4 years at Michigan State, in his senior season averaging 14.5pts 10.0reb, but only 0.8blks as he was never a shotblocker even in college.

Post Kings Career
In the next 2 seasons after being waived by the Kings Peplowski would get little cups of coffee with Detroit, Washington, and Milwaulkee, but never had a chance to play more than a handful of games for any of them, and was out of the league by 1996. He briefly tried Spain, but never mounted a real CBA/European career after the NBA and instead retired from basketball altogether.

Post NBA Career
After his playing days, Peplowski went into real estate, and at the height of the recent recession was buying up historic properties in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a firm he had founded with fellow ex NBAer Matt Steigenga (who's 2 game NBA career makes Pep look highly decorated).

Position: PG/SG
Yrs w/Kings: 2005-07 (2 years)
How Acquired: Free agent Aug. 2005
How Departed: Free agency 2007

Strong athletic tweener guard who was a big college scorer, but could never fully make the transition to NBA point guard his 6'2" frame demanded. Not creative as a passer, and struggled with the NBA three point distance, but always gave a good effort on defense and was a high flyer when given a lane to the rim. After two seasons with little progress made toward becoming a natural point, he was let walk away.

College
Price starred at tiny Utah Valley State, in his senior season averaging 24.3pts, albeit on only .427 shooting. Concerns about competition level kept him from being drafted after graduation, but he was considered one of the more intriguing undrafted prospects, and the Kings signed him in early August 2005.

Post Kings Career
Despite his limitations (he's a career .378 shooter and never averaged more than 14.4min or 4.3pts) Price has hung around in the NBA as a limited minute defensive reserve PG for 9 years now, 4 of them with the Jazz, but also with stops in Phoenix, Portland, and most recently in 2013-14 with Orlando.
