An old friend told me tonight at a party that her son had been parking cars (valet service) at the Esquire Club in Sacramento when Mike Bibby showed up one night. Apparently, Mr. Bibby is perceived by service people to be less than generous with tips at local restaurants and clubs. Anyway, Bibby allegedly told the young gentleman to park his car. My friend's son said "no". A discussion ensued and Mr. Bibby was allegedly told that he was cheap, and that the young gentleman was not going to park his car. Mr. Bibby allegedly indicated that he would indeed "take care" of the valet should said valet park his car. I assume the car was parked and some gratuity was transferred.

Sounds impossible, but given who this young gentleman is, the story is believable. This kid has been a hockey plaer, a bouncer, a valet, and other things. He is now talking about becoming involved in Ultimate Fighting matches. He has never exhibited what one might call sterling judgement.

??????????

I so do not get the purpose of that story, qd.

First, it sounds like the "young gentleman" needs a lesson in how to do his job. If you're working as a valet or parking attendant, isn't it your job to park the car of patrons? Refusing to do so in anticipation of a bad tip sounds pretty lame to me.

Sounds to me like the "young gentleman" was bragging to his mother about how he stood up to MIke Bibby...

Exactly. Bibby is probably fine. The kid is a head-case. I thought that it was amusing for a young wanna be tough guy like that to smart-mouth a world-class athlete who could no doubt mop the floor with him.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...

to quote my favorite Gilda Radner character, Emily Latella, "Never mind."

Wow people just seem to want to pick fights with Mike. My cousin met him before and she said he's a pretty nice person in real life.

It is the classic "wanna be" scenario. This guy will never achieve anything like Mike Bibby.

This same phenomenon may rear its ugly head with our old friend Shack, only worse. I fully expect some wanna be tough guy to attempt to shoot officer O'Neal if he "dabbles" in real hand-to-gland street crime. He is a very large, famous, and rich target for a psychotic street-loser. He is too well-known to be playing cop out there on the street.
