Per Tyreke's brother's Twitter Reke tweaked ankle in Team USA Practice

Just to be clear here, you all are happy our star player just got injured? And before you all want to throw a party, they guy is going to be sitting around and not working on his jumper while he is injured. If it was bad enough to sit out of practice this week, it's a bad sprain and shooting jump shots has lot to do with legs. And sprained ankles are not an easy recovery, so he could be sitting out of practice for longer than Team USA would have had him. I take this as bad news and if you wanted Tyreke to be a better player, then it's not going to be through getting an injury.

It was a minor sprain and he's probably close to fully recovered. The problem is that it prevented him from the first round of practices which is basically like making first cuts. Since he did not practice, he won't be invited to play the rest of the summer with the team. Again, it's a minor sprain, and it only kept him out about a week. He'll probably take another week off and then get into his own summer workout regime. Frankly, I'm glad he's getting this extra rest. Sometimes these athletes, the driven ones, don't get enough rest.

If Tyreke made the team, he was going to be tied up from early August through mid-September. I certainly hope his ankle tweak isn't going to bother him for two months! Like Hammer said, he's not out because he's missing a lot of time, it's just that the time he missed took him out of the evaluation period.

Sorry I don't buy the "fortunate" ankle injury spin. I've been watching sports a long time and I know these type of injuries can be tricky. With guards that rely on change of direction and pace, they can be affected even more. They can seem simple and no big deal and yet take forever to heal back to 100%. Others can play the next day. Since this opportunity was a big deal for Tyreke, then he missed practice for good reason. That tells you it's not nothing. I had mixed feelings about the Team USA thing too. But the last thing I wanted to see come out of this was an injury. I just find it odd that the man got injured and some fans are happy about it. I would rather have had him working hard in the gym on improving his game too than be with Team USA. But I differ in my feelings about injuries than some fans I guess. I hope it's healed and he's 100% and working out with his trainers next week. I'll be quite relieved in fact. But if he can't practice for weeks, then we should be concerned.

I agree. But as it appears now, it's not that serious an injury and it will prevent Tyreke from participating with team USA which means more time to work on his individual game and shooting and stuff. If the injury turns out to be really bad then of course it would suck, but anyway nobody's really rejoicing about the injury itself, but rather that he is no longer going to be spending his time practising with team USA.

Tyreke got cut from team USA.

"Sacramento guard Evans, who missed the final three practices and last Saturday's scrimmage due to a sprained left ankle, has been a lock to be cut. While Memphis guard Mayo and ......"

Yeah it was already noted that he was going to be cut, because he had to miss practices leading up to the blue and white game, and miss the game itself. Colangelo said it was a tough break for Tyreke tweaking his ankle when he did, and they would definitely be looking for his services on future teams.
