The agent representing Sonics power forward Chris Wilcox left Seattle on Friday without a deal after two days of face-to-face meetings with Sonics general manager Rick Sund. But both sides described the sessions as "productive" and agreed to take a weekend break and continue negotiating on Monday.
Jeff Fried, Wilcox's agent, said a three-year deal would be best for his client and the team. Previous reports have indicated a contract could be worth between $19 million and $24 million.
Signing Wilcox, a restricted free agent, is the club's top offseason priority, Sund said. Since being acquired in a February trade, the 23-year-old averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds.
Wilcox is eligible to sign an offer sheet with any NBA team, but the Sonics have the right to match that offer.
