Omri Casspi deserves an invite to the 3 point shootout this year...

Starter
Casspi is already on his way of being one of the best 3 point shooters in the league, and if he can stay some what on the pace he has been on, there is no doubt in my mind he should get a shot. His quick release and competitiveness would be perfect for the competition.

3pt FG/FGA ('09-10 season)
Omri Casspi (Kings) 31/67 .463 (6th best in the NBA)

Last years contestants
3pt FG/FGA ('08-09 season)
Mike Bibby (Hawks) 114/279 .409
Daequan Cook (Heat) 105/256 .410
Danny Granger (Pacers) 120/299 .401
Jason Kapono (Raptors) 52/124 .419
Rashard Lewis (Magic) 137/327 .419
Roger Mason (Spurs) 103/229 .450

Most if not all of these guys listed have specific plays ran for for their 3 point shooting ability. Casspi's numbers are purely based on instinct and what the defense gives him. I don't think its too crazy, and I'll bet money he's got better numbers than Kapono's last year come all-star weekend.

Thoughts?

Absolutely. And he will for sure be in the rookie game. On a related note... anyone else notice Stein taking a liking to him in the power rankings, and making the Jewish reference...? I saw all this coming. A lot of the high powered people in the NBA and in the sports media are Jewish... boon for us, boon for Omri. If he performs, he will get his due. Nice move Petrie!!!
