Offseason shaping up as a mini-rebuild...and I like it.

Edit: Skimmed posts and misread the one I quoted

Back to the topic. This was going to be a rebuild, the core team were losers, in the bottom of the league for 5 years or so...They had to gut the team, regardless of the fans that would be upset. I'm 100% OK with this. All of the moves had to be to get pros in the locker room. I know many don't like Grant, but he has said for the past couple of years that the Kings need professional basketball players, because they currently didn't have many (other than Isaiah). This quote proves it...

"It's a 100-percent change," Thomas said. "It just reminded me of college practice. Even though they don't have the whole team here, it's just the summer league team, everyone's dialed in. There's no talking on the side, just focus. Just focus on getting better and attention to detail, just doing the right things. So I can't wait for this season to start."

The FO has said from the get go that it would take a couple of years for them to remodel the team. I'm not going to freak out over the moves. I like a taller PG, who looks to pass, to get the ball to Demarcus down low. Landry played very well last year and I'm assuming that he will have the same role on the Kings. I also like that Thorton went to Las Vegas. Many people on here want to trade him, but he has a clutch gene. I don't like trading players who can win a game like Thorton can. Also, he is a great rebounder for a guard when he puts forth the effort. Last year he seemed like he was sleeping through the year, so hopefully a new philosophy from management/coaching gets him back on track.

Rebuild baby!

I suspect the next player will be Cuz.

I don't know man.. I think it could be MLM. I liked the pick, but I would have taken Burke and let him play with Evans at SG so MLM already has one strike against him for taking Evans spot (on my fantasy Kings roster).

I remember when Evans was drafted and the first thing I thought was "Martin is history". Though the same thing pretty much this time around too until we saw the Iggy news. :)

Anyhow, I think it will be MLM.

I watched Trey Burke in the Orlando SL. I'm very happy we didn't take him. He could not get his shot off in the lane and he looked a step slow and unsure of himself. I'm not even talking about the poor shooting % from the SL but he looked very much like Jimmer in that he looked overmatched athletically.....but certainly can dribble better than Jimmer. Burke may be a bust. He looked nowhere near as good as McCollam did in Ray's one game. I think once we get with the main team, McM will be fine as he will start off as a 3rd option type after Cousins and maybe even Thornton or Isaiah or Landry. I'd like to see him concentrate on being a defensive stopper who can move the ball and hit the open shot in the beginning....baby steps.

I agree with dude. McM is a kid, 19. He will be coming off the bench, working on the NBA game, to be more of a contributor in 2 years or so..

^ Yup I agree, I have a feeling we'll be keeping MT for awhile. Which may not be a bad thing, start him get his Value back up and maybe look too move him for more assets later on.

I don't put stock in summer league. There really is no game plan in summer league, and only a couple practices so I will wait until he's at least on the real Jazz roster.
