The calendar has finally turned to September, which means that NBA training camp is finally just around the corner. Let’s start with the biggest piece of news first. After initial reports said Irving is doubtful for the season-opener and that his surgically-repaired knee could keep him out until January, the Cavaliers are now saying they expect Kyrie Irving to play “well before January.” We’ll have to see how this plays out once training camp starts as there is quite a bit of time between the season-opener and January, but the best-case scenario here seems to be Irving beginning play in mid-November on a minutes restriction.
