Official Chronicles of Narina thread *with spoilers* ( for those who want them)

it's the ripe hour of 1 in the morning, and i'm fresh out of the 10:15 showing of "chronicles of narnia, the lion the with and the wardrobe" so i just had to start a thread for it

i loved it.

in anticipation of the movie, i bought the books, read LW+W in about 2 hours, it was a good book. i had never read the books as a child, but i still found the magic in them, and ignored the religous allegories.

so the movie kicked butt. the children were fantastic, which is a bummer since they will be too old to do the next one probably. i've been hearing that they might make the whole series. the actors who played peter and susan might be able to hang on, but the others will be way too big. anyways, i thought they did a great job. very convincing. lucy was very charming. the kid who played edmund was really good, thats a tough role, he's such a brat. he did a fine job, as did the older 2.

new zeland is a beautiful country, no doubt. the cinematography was outstanding. and i *did* approve of the score ;) and i'm very vexed that i can't seem to find any songs to download.

so this is me writing when i'm tired, hope i didn't bore anyone too much. to sum it up in a few words, go see it. i plan on seeing it again when the hype dies down.

I loved the book as a kid but wasn't sure if the movie would live up to it or not. You don't think I'll be disappointed?

having read the book ( better late then never) they did a fantastic adaptation. the book was so short to begin with, so they only cut out/changed maybe 2 or 3 minor things.

you will love the movie if you liked the book.

will i sit there and say "that isn't right" or "that didn't happen that way in the book"? these were some of my favorite books as a child(having read them 14 or more times), I have a really hard time when they make movies out of a book I loved and they don't follow it almost exact..(I was able to forgive the obvious discrepancies in the tolkein movies) or will I just be awed by what a great job the did as in the previously mentioned movies?

i don't think you'll be disappointed. the book is so short to begin with that there just isn't much to be cut out. there are a few minor little changes here and there, a few expansions ( like the battle scene, which was like half a page in the book) but all in all they really stay very true to the book.

i always like reading the books first so i can picture everything in my head, which i did do. it's always nice to compare what i imagine to what happens on screen. i sure wasn't disappointed.

I haven't read it in a long time, but there wasn't anything in the movie that made me think "Oh, that wasn't in the book". I thought the little girl who played Lucy stole the movie. I liked the White Witch and Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan worked for me too. If I had a major gripe, it was that Mr. Tumnus wasn't very "fawn" like in his characterization, more like some random guy who happen to have hooves instead of feet.

I was a bit suprised to find a lot of scenes almost exaclty how i imagined them, maybe because of the illustrations that went along with the books.

i love the book and i love the movie. i thought the adaptation was real good. everything was almost exactly like the book with a few things out of place like the river scene. but overall, i was really pleased with it. the only things that i wanted to see was when the good giant was turned back from stone and when the professor said, "once a king in narnia, always a king in narnia." peter was my favorite in the book and he was also my favorite in the movie.

there were a few moments when i was truly about to start crying. i liked the addition of the centaur and the focus on him. i grabbed my little sister's hand at the part when the centaur did that glance to peter and then ran to fight the witch for him. i also gasped when peter and the unicorn went down.

but i really liked how some of it was explained. like how the kids came to be staying with the professors; when i was younger, i didn't really get that. i always thought that the kids and the professor were somewhat related or something like that. i also liked how we saw the injury to edmund.

Tilda Swinton stole the movie. The White Witch is the best movie villain since Darth Vader.
