I actually enjoyed watching the Twins when he was around. He will be missed.

RIP, Mr. Puckett.

As a lifelong Twins fan who idolized Kirby...this is definetely a sad day for me. I shed tears of rememberance and sorrow when the news broke yesterday about his stroke, and again today with the news of his passing. A part of my childhood heart was lost today. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Puckett family, the Twins team, and the entire state of Minnesota who is in mourning. Rest in Peace.

Thanks for the memories, Kirby ... :(

on a lighter-side ....I'll never forget that '91 series and one of the announcers describing Kirby as a "badly packed duffle bag" .... :D

I'll remember for different reasons: my grandmother died on October 26, 1991, and I remember my family being gathered together at her house in Ideal watching the World Series, hoping that the Braves would win, because my grandmother was a Braves fan... That was the first time I ever watched the World Series, and the last time I'd watch until the Diamondbacks beat the Yankees.

Anyway, everybody in my family was excited about the Braves winning, and then Kirby Puckett put the Twins on his back and broke all their hearts...

I was so lucky to have gotten to see Kirby play in person several times. My grandparents lived in South Dakota when I was a kid, I used to love going to see them in the summers, because I knew I would get to so to see the Twins. I'll never forget the first game I saw, Twins vs. Blue Jays at the Dome. Frank Viola started for the Twins, Kirby was in his rookie season. Kirby went 4-4 with 2 doubles. I was 10 yrs. old. Everyone that has known me for most of my life knows 2 things: I'm a Kings fan, and I am a Twins fan.(ok, 4 things, a 49ers fan and Canucks fan, too;) ) In 1987, I went to see the Twins play a doubleheader in Oakland(one of the many games I went to see those two teams play), I got there wicked early because I wanted to get Kirby's autograph during batting practice. I got Viola, Reardon(poor guy), and then Kirby came over...he stopped to talk to every one of us kids that were waiting for him, like he didnt even care about how long it took. I told him that he was my favorite player and he told me to follow my heart in everything I do in my life if I love doing something. And I knew he meant what he was telling me. The passion for life flowed from him like nothing else. Yesterday was yesterday, and today is today...and if there is one thing that Kirby stood for more than anything else, was to live life to its fullest TODAY, and enjoy that with others so you can live life and everything it has to offer together.
