NY Post: Artest Homeward Bound?

Actually Berman said that the Knicks "interest" in Artest was an 8. Also, he didn't seem to think that the Knicks would part with Lee because he's young and up n coming (also would be unpopular with the fans). Grant and Mike said it would be great to get Lee, and Berman said it would be for Kings fans, but he never gave the impression that Lee would be part of a trade package. Berman was talking about different guys and then Grant came in and said that Petrie wouldn't just give Artest away for nothing. The conversation was all conjecture and opinions.

That would be more of the progression I would expect --they want Artets, we would want Lee. They don't want to give up Lee. Alternatives explored. None are good enough. Third teams become involved, and who knows.

Thing is, while I, and everybody, really likes Lee, he might be better as a 6th man energy guy like he was last year. He is not a great defender either, and he and Spenser (Curry) already played together last year and led a team to the exact same number of wins we got last year ourselves. They could very well be thinking of him as a big energy guy off the bench, but you never know with Zeke. For us, I see nothing therre that would inspire me to give up Ron if the future picks are not possible. If Lee was on board, Lee, Collins/Malik Rose would do it for me, or the enders in place of Rose if it happened in late summer. But without Lee AND without picks? Cannot imagine. Ron is just the gift that keeps on giving.

I listened to the interview and I have to say that Berman could not emphasize enough how much Zeke "LOVED" Artest. Zeke seems to believe he is the ONE person who can control Ron and his pairing with Randolph instantly puts the Knicks in the mix. So, I think this it's encouraging that NY may extend itself to get this done.

Well if nothing else they would have one of the most comically buffed up frontlines of all time. Curry/Randolph/Artest? Hey next brawl they get into -- they win. ;)
