The fable of David vs. Goliath, as currently featured in the movie "The Land of Elah" has been on my mind since yesterday. Here we are, the David of the story going into the valley of Elah to face the frightening Goliath. All we need is the right rock and a good slingshot - well, and a smile from the great god of basketball, Naismith.
The Kings aren't going to win a lot of the remaining games. That's just a fact. What they can and should do, however, is finish the season with pride and effort. And if that means guys like Shelden Williams and Spencer Hawes see the majority of minutes, so be it. It's still all about heart and hustle, energy and excitement as far as I'm concerned.
I want the Kings to win tonight. I want them to bead the lion in its den, but even a little more than that I want them to be PROUD of who they are. Although I know there are some who disagree, I think there are lessons to be learned even by losing right now, and you can "lose" or you can LOSE.
It's up to them, of course, but I'll be here rooting for them to do their best. If it's not good enough, then so be it.
