Not good for Sacramento's image.

I just read that online just a few minutes ago. What a setback for our image around the world. Makes us look really unsafe and small-townish.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh....

The bikes were stolen from an unmarked moving truck parked in the alley behind the Residence Inn at 1501 L St. between 10 p.m. Saturday and 6:45 a.m. Sunday when the theft was discovered, said officer Konrad Von Schoech, a spokesman for the Sacramento Police Department...

Maybe I'm just not that aware of proper security procedures, but if I had a piece of equipment worth $10,000, I'm thinking I just might be taking a little better care of it. In an ummarked moving truck parked in an alley? Gee, why not just write "Hey look!" on the side and leave it unlocked?

Lance Armstrong thanks the Sac PD for finding his bike

Not really true, since someone walked into the police station with it.....

Sacramento police announced this afternoon that Lance Armstrong's stolen time-trial bicycle valued at $10,000 has been recovered -- and Armstrong thanked the police department for its help minutes after finishing the Clovis leg of the Amgen Tour of California.
A local resident brought the bike into Sacramento Police headquarters on Freeport Boulevard at about 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, police said in a news release.
"Detectives confirmed that the bike was in fact Armstrong's stolen bicycle," the statement said.
The bike is quite distinctive, described by the seven time Tour de France champion as one of a kind.
Police said the person with the bike wanted to remain anonymous.
"Right now we're treating him as a person who did the right thing and turned it in," said Sgt. Norm Leong.
That could change as the police investigation continues, he said.
