Bears center Dalman retiring…..out of the blue. Hope there is a backup plan. Also Bears are favored to land Max Crosby

Niners and Trent are at an impasse and they might release him. That would be a mistake.

He's 37. If pretending like he will continue to stay healthy and play All-Pro football into his 40s is the reason Lynch and Shanahan refuse to draft an OT in the first round despite it being an obvious need, then I'm fine with letting him get his last big payday somewhere else. He's an incredible football player but this team needs to be thinking more 5 year plan then Super Bowl or bust imo. We need multiple pieces on that offensive line not just one superstar holding down LT and scraping the bottom of the barrel to fill the other 4 spots with what's left of the cap space.

No, born in Tracy, moved to Sacramento decades ago. Been a Bears fan since they drafted Walter Payton and my brother liked the Vikings so of course I took a rival.
I can respect that. Glad you guys finally have some success that can be sustainable. My whole family are bears fan and boy did I feel bad...

Surprised the Ravens are the team that wound up blinking and giving up multiple firsts for Maxx.

I guess the Niners will just have to use that package to trade for Jetta Jefferson

Niners sign Mike Evans to a three year 60 million dollar deal. If he’s back to being a HOFer, that’s a steal. If he’s old and hurt, it’s just a meh deal.

I don't like this signing for the Niners because of that very reason. You don't know which Mike Evans you're going to be getting. If you get pre-2025 Mike Evans, then great. If you get 2025 Mike Evans, though, then sorry but not sorry...

Yeah I don't think a playmaker is really what the Niners need most.
By the end of the season the WR room was literally Jauan Jennings and four random dudes that the Niners picked up off the streets while it might not have been the biggest need, it certainly was a need. Especially a man-coverage beating big wideout.

Love it. He's the Aiyuk replacement on the outside and gives Purdy the big target with Kittle out for most/all the year. Jennings is probably gone, which really makes our receiver room incredibly sparse.

It's pretty similar to the Kupp contract, which I think effectively can get us out of the deal after this year for pretty cheap. Low risk/huge upside as a team in a 2-3 year window with iour core.

49ers offensive line got annhilated by the Seahawks in the playoffs and 2nd game. Williams is 37 yro and on a down trend - time for the 49ers to go heavy on the O-Line this offseason. Purdy is a very good scrambler but has his limits. 49ers special teams coverages need work too, and defense may need another LB as a Warner insurance policy.. Bethune is too slow. and where was Nick Martin - injured mostly it seemed. And of course they'll whiff on CBs, as they usually go for physicality over speed - Green stinks - another weak link in the chain. And Luter didn't look much better. At least their QB situation is good which is better than the majority of teams.

49ers had an opportunity to go for Breece Hall last mid-season from the Jets who publicly wanted out and knows Purdy; Lynch and co didn't want to give up draft capital, but that would've been an awesome successor for McCaffrey, and more in line with how Shanahan Jr likes his offense. Mike Evans is a half-swing at 32 yro. Pearsall is a good complementary receiver, but they don't have an alpha receiver, and Evans is questionable for that -think its a ho-hum free agent pickup. 49ers drafting quality needs to improve - too many misses.

Meahwhile Seahawks lost SuperBowl MVP Kenneth Walker, which is certainly something. And Stafford is on the cusp of Grandpa Rogers territory. Cardinals are in deep #$%t at QB - will probably draft one.

And they got their a$$es handed to em heavily on this imbalance.

At Williams age and the salary hit, a reasonable impasse. Age is a big factor. Everyone declines and retires at some point. My guess is the 49ers are not willing to pay superstar salary for a longer term contract. Williams can have a higher amount for 1 season or a much lower amount at 3-4 seasons, and is balking. Can't have your cake and eat it at 37 yro in pro sports unless you're in tennis or golf.
