Newsday: Ron Artest now a man on a mission

This artical is not bad at all, it is just Ron being Ron. I am hoping anyone who actually thought he may become a golden press boy has come around by now. I am sorry, Ron plays with more heart than anyone else on the team and I would much rather see Bibby go. If Ron decides that he would rather leave, I say ship him out first thing. But if he wants to give it all another season, I am happy to have him on the Kings. And with articals like this, GP can know exactly where he is at.

And it seems he is giving up on the Gangster Rapper thing and looking to spend his excess $$$ on bigger and better things. More power to him! Really, traveling in a third world country changes you for life and he was clearly touched.

Let's see how it is 90 days from now, when he's home again.

It's not about Ron playing with heart. It's about Ron continually reinventing himself to try and meet the demands of the moment. I'm not saying he's intentionally trying to deceive anyone. That's arguably the saddest part of all this.

He does incredibly stupid things and then tries desperately to make things right. But then, before long, he'll do something incredibly dumb again. It's a vicious circle - a catch-22.

I would dearly love to see him pull out of this cycle and turn himself around but at this point I honestly don't know if it's possible.

Remember, Pacer fans went through similar things and he's still breaking some of their hearts.

You know I understand that frame of mind. And I also totally understand the ticking time bomb action.

But still, he is the best player on the team and the only solid difference maker. He plays with passion and love for the game. And that just happens to be exactly what I cannot stand about all of the other vets on the team sans Corliss - he is still around right?

I am ready for change and am not arguing against trading Ron, but I am happy to have him if he stays and would much rather see several other players shipped out first.

And I could be wrong (it has happened once or twice), but having traveled in a third world country myself, I have to say that on some level, he will never be the same again. His perception has been expanded.

I almost hate to be the one to break it to you - but, as of today, Corliss Williamson is an unsigned free agent. And he has stated before he'd like to get at least a 2-3 year contract. We may be SOL as far as Corliss is concerned, and that would really make me sad. I have always liked Corliss and truly wish he could have retired as a King.

Wow. That sucks. I hope he gets a ring next year.

With him gone, who to lead the youngsters? Ron is now the only Vet that actually actively shares his experience and wisdom. I do not think that just being able to watch them play is enough.

Does he really need it? :) He already has one from Detroit, plus he was Final Four mvp and has NCAA title as well.

I'd say he's accomplished more than most other players.

Class acts like Corliss are rare in the NBA. Plus, the guy can contribute. Would love to have him on the bench again, money willing.

Very true.

I guess I was just thinking that he might have a chance if he is not on the Kings.

I wonder if anyone in history has done what Corliss has accomplished in his basketball career? Not only does he have an NBA and NCAA championship, but his high school basketball team in Arkansas won the state championship as well. The guy has climbed the ultimate mountain top in sports like few have ever seen - wow!

And he deserves every bit of it. It's great to see good guy be a winner :D
