New Jersey pipe dream...

We're all well aware that New Jersey is awful. And they're losing more money a year than most of us combined will make in a lifetime. The players are giving/have given up on the team. At what point do you think the fire sale starts. Devin Harris for Kenny Thomas would obviously make for a bigger steal than the Gasol trade, but do you think they'd entertain the idea of Thomas plus this year's first? Maybe add Rodriguez so they take a cheap pg back? Both trades work on trade checker...

But then the other question is, would Harris be someone who would team up well with Tyreke?

If we're going to dream about stealing a Net, I would think Lopez.

Harris doesn't do anything for the goal of another guard with size next to Tyreke and isn't a great outside shooter.

Also, NJ has a bunch of salary going away soon, so with all their problems they don't need to resort to a ridiculously one-sided fire sale.

IMHO Devin Harris would not be a good fit with Evans because both need the ball in their hands to be effective.

The players we need to look for are the ones that complement Evans, not take away from his game.

NJ Nets are actually very well off salary wise.. They have a ton of expirings for the off-season (enough for 2 max salary players i think?) if no it's really close...

They have no real reason to trade of Lopez or Harris unless they can be convinced somehow through cash or draft picks i'd assume..

I agree with NME... we need Lopez off the Nets not Harris

How about this?...

Sacramento Trade Breakdown

Incoming

Jarvis Hayes
Tony Battie
Brook Lopez

Outgoing

Kevin Martin
Spencer Hawes
2010 1st round pick

We get the final piece for our starting 5 (contenders in less than 2 years) as well as too expiring contracts.

Nets get a elite scorer entering his prime, a young prospect and a top 10 pick next year.

It works salary wise and I think its pretty reasonable. What do you think?

We still have the same big man depth issues with this trade in the long term. I think it's giving up too much to get Lopez. Anything with our glut of SFs?

Yikes, that's an awful lot to give up...but it probably would take that much if they can even be persuaded at any price. Could possibly be worth it if you could tell me that Noc would be moved for a third big and we'd have basically a balanced roster set that would be competitive now with a lot of room to grow. Lopez is similarly skilled to Hawes but is so much more of a load that he can hold his position in the post and eat space on defense like we crave from Spencer, and that could have a huge cascade effect on our lineup.

We would now have a true center whose a beast and is only 21. I love Martin and I still see tons of potential in Hawes, I just think Lopez would be a perfect fit four our young core. A true big man who plays like a big man. Plus hes a local boy.

Tyreke
Casspi
Greene
Thompson
Lopez

We would be a force to be reckoned with.

I also like Lopez, but who would they have to replace him with, and why would they give him up? Harris is great, but probably wouldn't complement Evans that well.

This is a pipe dream. New Jersey aren't a veteran team who just no longer have what it takes. They're a young team, who have suffered countless injuries already this season. They're not gonna start trading their best players, who are all very young, for cap space
