New arena, new logo?

As I was browsing on a toxic place called r/nba, I came across a nice post that combined logos of the past with the logos of the present. I thought that the Kings merger was pretty neat:

1. That looks pretty bad. The original blue and red colors on the old logo work because it adds contrast and boldness; the colors speak for itself. Swapping it to black/grey and purple for the sake of swapping colors loses those qualities. Our current logo looks fine with those colors because we're focused on the sharpness/edginess of the crown, "KINGS", and the lances(?).

2. The font choice in your suggestion reminds me of when Pepsi rebranded their logo. I hated it. It looks like when the Mavericks changed their logo to that squiggly font. It's not even cursive, it's just round and wimpy. None of our logos in the past looked like that.

3. Did it really have to be 8000x5000 pixels?

I don't hate the old Kings logo (which was used in Cincinnati and KC) and you COULD update it with the new colors and a more modern look:

But honestly I just like the current logo much more. I think you run the risk of changing for the sake of change and ending up with something not as good.

That said, 2015 is the 30th anniversary so a secondary logo to celebrate that would be cool. This one wasn't bad, but I'd imagine something better could be done:

Maybe something with the silhouette of the new arena?

I love our current logo......... plus I have a tattoo. Though I could certainly put a new one on the other shoulder, that is far to ugly to tempt me to do so.
