Nets want Cousins

Sadly, I think I line up with jabj24 a little on this.

However, I like DeMarcus, and believe he is insanely talented. Before I trade him, I beg and break the bank for a quality coach. Do we realize that Rick Pitino, AS A COLLEGE COACH, gets $7.5 million per season? John Calipari gets either 4 or 5 million. Obviously, the only reason Paul Westphal is here is because he was one of the few coaches willing to take that unreasonably low salary.

Get this team a quality coach, and see what happens. Look at how much better Minnesota looks already. They may have a bad record as well, but they are less talented than this Kings team is. They are not consistently beaten by 30.

No one and nothing.

Everyone and everything, including coach, gm, owners, systems, whatever.

Given that your very first post was to come on here and suggest we trade Cousins to the Nets, the same day that rumor popped up on ESPN, excuse me if I remain unconvinced you actually have the Kings' best interests in mind.

And just as an aside, Cousins is one of the players least in need of being set up in the entire NBA. Who was setting up Shaq? Or Dwight? Or Ewing? Or Admiral? Or Hakeem? Greeat offensive centers just need a post entry pass and then they take care of the rest. If you need a great PG to set you up, you aren't that good.

Right now Cousins isn't that good, so he needs a guy who can feed him a pass in excellent position, preferably on the move. Maybe down the line he can approximate the centers you mention; maybe not. But he's not close to that now.

Dunno, it always seems he's more prone to picking up charges and turnovers when he's lumbering to the basket. Whereas, when he's posting up, he's been quite effective this season, especially with his spin to the baseline move.

I meant if the situations matched, should have said sonics, but it's irrelevant.

Cousins game is in the post backing down IMO. I hate seeing him at the top of the key dribbling. Westphals plan for Cousins is to have him at the top of the key as a facilitator.

He is a good passer, but we'll never see him flourish in that role, but thats just me.

His shooting percentage is appalling so far, he's missed a few tap ins as well which doesn't help, but he takes way way too many mid range and long balls. And the reason is no body will give him the damn ball in the post.

yeah I agree with you. Never really understood why they always play Cousins in the high post away from the basket. They should be posting him up down low, like Shaq or any other low post center.

That's when he's dribbling the ball. I'm talking about hitting him on the move when he flashes into the paint without the ball. CP3, for example, is a genius when it comes to those sort of passes.

Nets are desperate to get anyone so they can retain Deron. If he leaves...wow. They will have gambled away a lot and have a team of scrubs. Bottom line is what the Nets want has little consequence. They want any player of value that gives them any chance to get Deron.

Cousins is elite...they ain't getting him and especially not for any of the crap on their roster.

I was wrong about Cousins. We need him. We need a lot of things but we can't afford to lose him.

Perhaps this is a good lesson. You know, try and wait to form an opinion over a long period of observation as opposed to changing it on a game by game basis?

anfernee hardaway/derek fisher, jameer nelson, derreck harper/chris childs, avery johnson/tony parker, sam cassell/vernon maxwell/kenny smith. I feel so smug.

Did a little research on Nets forums on the whole trading for Demarcus subject and their ideal package to give up for him would have been Farmar +Petro + 2nd round pick.

Petrie would have laughed them off the phone
