EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) - The New Jersey Nets waived veteran center Elden Campbell on Tuesday. Campbell appeared in 10 games with the Nets, his third team this season, after signing with the club January 28. He scored just two points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a total of 50 minutes for New Jersey. A member of the Detroit Pistons during their title run last season and for the first 21 games in 2004-05, Campbell was traded from the champions to the Utah Jazz on January 21. He did not make an appearance for the Jazz, however, and was waived five days later.
A 15-year veteran out of Clemson, Campbell has career averages of 10.4 points and 5.9 rebounds in 1,035 career games. He was drafted 27th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1990 and averaged a career-best 14.9 points for them during the 1996-97 season.
