I figure the Warriors will be dangling Wiseman and some picks in a trade this summer or at the deadline. They have a small window to get back in contention and it would be silly to waste the last part of Curry's prime.

Even if they do, I’m not sure they have the cap space to fit another max star onto their roster unless one of their guys goes out in the process. In addition to Steph, Klay, and Draymond, they’re also paying Andrew Wiggins’s 147 million dollar contract and have a 21 million dollar cap hold for Kelly Oubre.

Also Wiseman’s trade value has probably seen a Marvin Bagley-esque downward trend

I think the Hawks are riding some hot play mixed with just being built better than us.

Being in the East has a lot to do with it. As is getting favorable matchups.

Philly has made a habit out of underachieving in the postseason, as I tried to remind folks here about while they were #1 in the East most this season (Hinkie tanking Karma!)

And ATL faced the Knicks in round 1, who improved greatly but still have been a disappointing franchise for a long while now.

ATL actually gets a favorable matchup with MIL (vs Brooklyn) in the fact that they also have suffered from let downs and underachieving in the postseason and don’t have a KD, Steph or Kawhi type Q4 killer on their team. I expect MIL to win, but won’t be surprised if ATL beats them.

But would ATL have a shot against Brooklyn? I don’t believe so. I wouldn’t have liked their chances against Boston and Tatum had they matched up.

And forget about it in the West. ATL wouldn’t have made the play-in playing a West loaded schedule.

ATL just won GM7 when Trae Young — whom the media is picturing all over the internet as if he had an epic performance— shot 5-23 and 2-10 from 3.

That doesn’t get it done against Brooklyn (probably not MIL either) or any top team out West. But gets you to the conference Finals in the East.

Yeah being in the east doesn't hurt for sure but I can't in good faith say the Kings would be making any noise if they were an eastern conference team. They went 13-17 against the east this year.

Not so sure about the matchups. Hawks played against 2 best defenses in the NBA. Philly was actually a bad matchup for Hawks due to the size and length of their players with Hunter/Redish missing. Bucks are even worse in that way especially now that Bogdan is kaput. Regular season vs Nets/Boston Hawks were combined 3-3

And 18-12 the season they won 39 games with a better coach than the one they have now.

The KINGS would have made the playoff numerous times the past 15 years playing an East loaded schedule.
