say what you will about players practicing free throws...the point here is does Silver want to lose ratings by watching this hack a strategy every night? I highly doubt that and if he is serious about the integrity of the game, he will put this rule to an end.

killing the flow of how basketball should be played and not fouling a single player over 20+ times and watching a free throw shooting contest. Since when has the game of basketball become a game of chess?

Whether any given game is entertaining or not and protecting the integrity of the game are two entirely different subjects.
Flopping is far worse for the integrity of the game as it's meant to cheat the official into giving you a call. Missed FTs are missed FTs, one of the most basic elements of the game. If a poor FT shooter gets the ball inside, many times you foul and force him to make both instead of giving up a layup. Intentionally fouling a 50% or lower FT shooter isn't much different. If you're that bad, you are a liability and it should be exploited by the opponent at times.
I'd actually say shooting a FT like this is worse for the integrity of the game.
No wonder this dude gets intentionally fouled. Is he aiming for the American flag? No one to blame but himself.
It's always been a game of matchups and strategy. This is no different. You foul too much and guys foul out. Other than that, why should there be a more stringent penalty?
You have a guy who can't shoot 3's? Cheat off him at the 3 point line to double the bigs. Watch him miss 3's all day long.
Up by 3 with 2 seconds left - do you foul the guy on the inbound so he doesn't get a 3 point shot off and instead shoots 2 FT?
The list goes on and on. Is it pretty? Not always. Is it strategy within the game? You bet.
Yes, if anything allowing players to get away with poor FT shooting is what damages the integrity of the game.

Those instances don't disrupt the flow of the game the way fouling a FT shooter does over a span of the game. Running a player off the three point line has been in effect long before teams started implementing this hack a player strategy to their game plan and when or how this rule became to fruition is what I'm still trying to figure out.

I understand fouling him in the act of shooting to prevent him from getting a dunk or put bank dunk etc. But to consistently go and foul him play after play? I'm sorry but that may be all right with you but I'm not too fond of that.

I agree with this it''s crap it would be like watching two power punchers in boxing do nothing but clinch with one another (even if neither is hurt) the entire fight no one wants to see that crap. If they want to keep the rule make it you can only do it 2 times in a half or something like that.
So stuff like repeat fouls at the end of a game to stop the clock are OK with you but fouling a poor FT shooter throughout the game is not? How one in the spirit of the game and the other not? Granted they serve different purposes (one is to stop the clock and the other is to help prevent the team from scoring) but they are still fouls "not in the flow of the game."
Learn to hit your FT. The fouling will stop.

teams start fouling towards the end of the games to give themselves that one last chance at a come back....after that it's all moot IMO because it just bolsters the scoreboard and if it's not a one possession game and there are a handful amount of seconds left on the clock, teams foul to make it seem as if they are not mailing it in and trying to make a quick three, etc. That's been basketball since I can remember and it's NOT the same thing as fouling someone before he crosses the half court line.
Or maybe players will learn to shoot free throws and not be a damn embarrassment to themselves, their peers, and the game.

The obvious reply would be "Sessions signed before he realized how dysfunctional the franchise is."
I can understand how the FTs are terrible to watch for someone watching live. I tend to watch the game after its over so I can always fast forward through the FTs. But to me intentional fouling just adds a strategic tool to an otherwise rather minimally strategic game, which makes it much better.

EC playoff beauty (horrible!) as both Atlanta and Washington tried desperately to lose (ugly!). Atlanta stinking up home court with season high 25 TOs but as buzzer sounded (finally!) they were ahead 82-81 to lead series 3-2. Yuck!!

Rockets turn Staples into death watch morgue... in 4Q and all without "runner up MVP." Clips played laughably bad in 4th but Rockets defense was utterly tenacious. Yes, playoffs and especially in crunch time is all about lockdown D! Now game 7 in H-Town.
