Just caught the end of it, and Jim Gray was talking about Monarchs coach Weisenhart coaching the Kings? I know Jim Gray isn't the most credible, but does anyone know anymore about this?

Oh good lord. The talk about Whis has been floating around for months. The Maloofs are NOT going to change coaches at this point. You can take that to the bank.

VF, I hope you are right! I missed it. Hopefully, it was just one of those "coaches that will not be coaching with their current teams and who will replace them" segments.

Oh god no. That would suck, Adelman is a very good coach and we are just getting momentum. A coaching change could wreck it, atleast IMO.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. While we may have a nw coach next year, the Maloofs would be INSANE to switch right now. It would totally destroy every bit of positive progress the team has made. And Adelman doesn't deserve to be fired at this juncture.

I know people will want to take this and run with it but, as I said, I'm not going to let it worry me in any way whatsoever.

The rumor wasn't about them switching right now.

Bucher/Gray just said in the off-season, Monarchs coach could be a canidate because Adelman's in his last year.

I didn't take it as much at all, know it's been around before though. Just was like "oh".

As far as Gray goes, I like 'em.

No where did I say this was going to be an in-season swap. This was strictly about the offseason. These rumors have floated around on this board, but this is the first time I've heard anything on national television.

Possible coaching change ahead but at this point..um I don't think anyone thinks a change will be made in our 8th spot push.

I believe that it is merely speculation. More like a, "gee, Adelman is a lame duck coach; Coach Whiz won a WNBA championship with the Monarchs; maybe he'll be a candidate this summer if they do not re-sign Rick."

Is it possible? Yes! But, I would not call it likely. At any rate, if it happens, and I doubt it, it won't be til the NBA off-season.

I hope not. Womens basketball is so much different, I think RA should stay! It's been shown that it's not the coach that makes the defense, it's the players!

Actually all you said was:

I don't see anything about offseason. I responded to the post you made.

yeah, the talk was about this offseason. I could see it happening if Adelman is no longer the coach. Whis could be the perfect choice.

Whiz needs to stay with the Monarchs and help bring them a repeat championship. :D

And you didn't see anything about in-season either. You responded with assumptions. Why not ask first? Next time, I'll be sure to provide a transcript.

Oh, come on....why wouldn't anyone think you were talking about now, if you did not mention another time? Relax!!

I hate for this to be my first post, but VF21 needs to chill also. I would too be a little irked if somebody responded to my post that way. I didn't catch the show but I knew thesanityannex was talking about the offseason. I mean c'mon, why would they make a coaching change right now?!?

Whisenant has health problems too...something about his lungs. I don't think he has it in him to coach a full nba season because of that.

Whisneant had damned well better have more important things to do during the Kings' offseason than worrying about the Kings' head coaching job... like, coaching the Monarchs as they attempt to defend their WNBA championship... It only "makes sense" for someone who didn't actually hear Jim Gray speak to presume that he was talking about the offseason if you are not cognizant of the WNBA at all.

It would be ill-advised of the Maloofs to wait until the middle of September to look for a new head coach, and if they're going to go with Whisneant, then they need to make that decision before the WNBA season starts, ie, before the offseason.

Good point... Forgot the WNBA season starts in May. If the Maloofs do decide to go with Whisneant, the Kings would be the butt of all jokes. The Monarchs wins a championship before the 'Sacramento' Kings, and now this?

Edit: I mean, don't get me wrong... if Whisneant can turn the Kings into championship contenders, then I'm all for it.

Coach Whiz's "white line defense" with this bunch?

You know that whole line of thinking that a player can only listen to the same coach for so long before he begins to tune him out?

Well really, other than Bibby, nobody's had to listen to Rick for more than two years. I'm thinking management decided they either had to keep the team intact and get a new coach, or rebuild the team with a new look and keep Adelman.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see the Adelman sign a lengthy contract at the end of this season, especially if they make a hearty playoff push...and you can damn near guarantee it should they actually make the playoffs.

Take THAT to the bank.
