With Toronto set to host All Star Weekend in 2016 and Charlotte in 2017, and considering the following cities, in addition to Sacramento, have yet to host ASW: Portland, Memphis, Oklahoma City......

When do you think the NBA will name Sacramento as a host for All Star Weekend?

Agreed. I think that is one reason they are in a big hurry to get the adjacent hotel started. Once we have the necessary facilities, I don't think it would be long.

Depends on the hotel situation. They were discussing having people stay in Napa and bus them up, I don't see that as very viable.

I am going to say 2020, but wouldn't be surprised if it is pushed back until 2021. I don't think the league, or city of Sacramento for that matter, waits any longer than 2021 to host an All Star game here. I'd like to be optimistic as a couple, and say 2018, but I agree with macadocious and Warhawk - the hotel is gonna delay the process for a few years. But, at the end of the day, I think it definitely will be worth the wait.

Do local fans get a realistic shot (good opportunity to buy tickets, fair prices) at going to the All Star Weekend or is it like a celebrity/rich person fest? Never paid attention to anything ASW related except watching the dunk contest highlights.

Yes. Locals will have a nice, and fair, opportunity to purchase tickets. Might be at a premium price, but definitely not at a Super Bowl premium price.

How could you possibly know that? Based on prior experience just with playoff tickets, there are no guarantees.

That's not what I was trying to say, and actually, if you read Dreadnought's question, they basically asked if tickets would be affordable for the casual fan or are prices only geared towards the "celebrity/rich person" as they put it....Which, to my understanding, I believe the NBA does make it affordable for non celebrities and not so rich people to get in...

It's not the prices so much as the "fair opportunity to buy tickets" I was referring to. I suspect they'll be gobbled up in nano-seconds, especially with the Warriors fan base right down the road.

The Warriors will be back to sucking by then anyway so....
