I have to say though, you don't know bad announcing unless you have NBA League Pass and listen to some of the crap that passes for announcing around the NBA. For all of Grant and Jerry's faults, they're some of the best in the league. And yes, it's that bad.

[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]So, Tuesday evening, I'm riding back from In-N-Out Burger with my son Phil and his boys -- Andrew and Darryl -- when the cell phone rings.
Hmmm, the caller ID says it's Eric Musselman, the Kings' coach.
Of course, I'm skeptical. I've never given the little dude my phone number because he never asked for it. And I don't have his phone number because when I asked him for it a couple of months ago, he said he didn't know it.

Hmmm, he's the coach of an NBA squad, has two kids, and yet, he doesn't know his cell phone number and doesn't know where to find it, even though a public relations representative is five feet away?
Sometimes people don't realize how they come off to others, and Musselman appears to be one of those cats. And after that earlier exchange, my antennae went up, wondering if he really didn't know his number or was feeding me some garbage.
As a reporter, when you first meet someone you believe might not be telling the truth, you always question whether the honesty is present.
Which brings me to this Jason Hart, agent Bill Neff and Kings mess. It's only my opinion, but somebody is coming off looking like a liar.
Neff, Hart's agent, says Musselman told him as well as Hart that he had been directed by "upper management" to play pretty much everyone other than his client. Neff says Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie told him he had not told Musselman that.
I've known Petrie for 15 years, and if he says he doesn't tell his coaches whom to play, he doesn't.
Neff said he went back to Musselman with that news, and the coach sang him the same song that was sung before. It's also extremely difficult to conceive of Joe and Gavin Maloof telling Musselman which players to use.
Musselman said Tuesday that the Maloofs and Petrie have been nothing short of great in terms of assisting him.
So, here's my take: Musselman is the cat who has dirt on his hands. What's even worse, it's as if Petrie and/or the Maloofs were set up to take the fall.
The fact that Musselman has not exactly been an X's and O's genius in putting together an offense of significance doesn't weigh well for him, either.
I've had League Pass for four years (well, three and a half; I only had it for half the season in 04-05 before I went on deployment), and I dispute this vehemently; I watch other teams play all the time, and I rank Napear/Reynolds as one of the five worst announce teams in the entire league.I have to say though, you don't know bad announcing unless you have NBA League Pass and listen to some of the crap that passes for announcing around the NBA. I guess I'm confused. I don't know why Marty assumes Neff - an agent, for God's sake - is above telling a tall tale or two to get his client some press. It's been done before...
That Marty Mac article is insane!!!! Wow!! I've never seen anything like that before. Wow.
Seems like muss was trying to at least find a nice way to say he didn't want to give his number to any dork reporter who asks and then get calls all the time. Sounds ruder that way but why would you want to give this guy your number anyway, he'd just hand it out when he decides to backstab you like he did here.
I mean when he asks Muss for his cell number Muss tells him I dont know my number. How do u not know ur telephone number? That right there says Muss doesnt want ineraction with Marty which I dont know why?
Actually, I know plenty of people don't know their own cell phone numbers because they never call their own cell phones. Not to mention that cell phone memories store all of their other phone numbers, so they don't remember those, either. It may not be the norm, but I wouldn't presume right off the bat that Muss was lying just because he couldn't give Marty his cell phone number off the top of his head.
Now, if Marty said "take out your cell phone and figure it out", and Muss declined, that would seem much more standoff-ish to me.

How do you come to know people like this, and where did their parents go wrong? Are these people unemployed? Have they never drafted a résumé? Never applied for a job?
You don't know your phone number because you don't call your own phone? That makes about as much sense to me as not knowing your address because you don't send yourself mail...
I am really kicking myself for missing Sportsline..... This sucks!![]()
Marty calling out Grant is pure awesomeness. One of many reasons why I like Marty Mac!![]()
I dont always agree with him but I njoy hearing his opinion.
Personally, I thought Marty was out of line in the way he blasted Muss, inferring he was a liar and calling him the "Little Dude".
When Grant called him out about the phone call, Marty was backtracking big time.
So what if Muss didn't want to find out what the cell number was and give it to him? Sometimes it's better to offer an excuse rather than say something like .."You're a freaking idiot and I'd rather not have you calling me on my personal time."
Like him or not, Grant was completely right in my opinion.
