My Rant

Hello fellow Kings fans, I have been very quiet on these forums lately. I find that there is nothing to talk about when a game isn't on. So I have decided to make a thread of rants. It's simple really, its basically a debate. You post your "rant" and read other users and discuss.
These will probly get repetitive and boring after a while and we will never do them again, or they might become fun and exciting and become a tradition here. So it never hurts to experiment.

My Rant

Ahh here we are 6 games down the season, our record is a mediocre 2-4. Our so called franchise player is being well...a franchise player. Our first round pick is being a stud. Our last year first round pick is redy to stop carrying Brad's bags and ready to step up into big boy status. Yet, I feel as if we are doomed to another year of mediocrecy. Although I think we have a worse team this year without the likes of Ron Artest and Mike Bibby I feel we will get a couple more wins then last years excuse for a season.

On to the youngs, our team has some glory years ahead of them. JT is very very delicate peice of work. He is like a one of a kind glass sculpture, if you dont take good care of it, its just another dusty faded glass sculpture, but if you do take care of it, it will be the main peice of your collection for many years to come. Brown, ahhh is my favorite out of all the rookies. He has shown us what he could do in limited minutes. He can pass, shoot, drive, and hes as quick as can be. He definetly is our PG of the future. Donte.......uhh.....who is he again...but honestly Reggie give this guy some PT. Spencer.....cough Tim Duncan cough......Its a bit out there but in a couple of years you guys will see what im talking about. Sheldon...if he gets the PT he could be very special....I see him as a diamond in the rough.

On to the Oldys (or at least the ones I have to talk about)Kevin....boy when he is healthy he can hit everything....I would like to see him take 20 shots on his good nights. Scary thought. Salmons as of now he has taken Kevins spot as "star player"(not franchise) he is vey hungry out there, even though he dosen't show(he has the emotions of Ben Stein). He reminds me exactly of Ron Artest minus the craziness mind. Brad, lookin better then ever... I forgot how much he ment to this team till he came back. Rest...who cares

On to the commentaters......Grant and Jerry the dinamic duo. But honestly there have been some things they have said that really puzzle me....I recal one game were they had Sheldon, Spencer, and JT all on the court at the same time. Jt played the SF, and they made a comment that JT hasn't the skills to play the small forward position. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't JT play the gaurd position most of his life....ANYWAY MOVING ON. I also remember during that same game they said all the dribbleing should be left to Kmart Beno and Spencer? Spencer....Hawes..??? And the most irritating thing they said was after an Angela Tsai interview, the said......."Good Job Angela"??????????? WTH

Well anyway thats my rant......debate and discuss...and post your own rants too.

I would love if Spencer could be Duncan like in a few years, but seriously that's a far stretch. I am also worried about his shelf life. He's had too man knee surgeries for his age.

Shelden is more like the rough around a few diamonds. The guy is a turd, and will always be a turd. It's a good thing he is with Candice Parker. That way he can at least be associated with greatness.

Bobby Brown hasn't proved much yet. I'm cautiously optimistic with him, but I'm still waiting to see something that makes me ooh and ahh. You described him as Tony Parker basically, and Tony Parker he is not. Not yet at least. we'll see.

OUCH. Actually I'm "impressed" with SW in the early going. In the backup minutes hes been getting, hes done what he came in to do; defend, rebound, and provide bulk around the basket. I even saw him hit a little 12 footer last game. Obviously not going to wow you, and I think it's fair to say that his skillset in hindsight does not qualify him as a 5th pick. But as a 4th big to come in and be your enforcer/provide 6 hard fouls, you can do worse than this young fella.

Who knows, maybe he's a late bloomer. For a couple million at three years(team option), I'd keep him past this season, no problem.

I cannot agree with you more. If he had height he would be a starter in this league no problem.

Some agreement with you here .... we have some major playing time issues to manage this year as we see how far we will go into this rebuilding mode, especially at the 1 and 4/5.

1) I dont think Beno is a playoff caliber starting point guard. We overpaid him and paid him for too long. how he fits into this team for the next five years is kind of a mystery to me. can he come off the bench with a Bobby Jackson '01 model intensity and be a spark guy for us? if not, what exactly is he, because to me he is not a playoff level pg.

2) At the 4/5 we have serious logjam. Brad to me is the best player of the bunch (at this time) and should be the starter at center and get at least 32 minutes. Maybe we trade him later in the season, maybe we dont, but he is our best player at the 4/5. Mikki Moore on the other hand is simular to Beno, not a playoff team caliber player. I can not see any reason why he should be getting minutes over Spencer and JT. He should be fourth/firth off the bench depending on what we do with Shelden. If there are 96 minutes in a game at the 4/5 spots, this would be my general allotment.

Miller - 34
JT - 24
Spencer - 24
MM/Shelden - 14

I think bobby has the ability to be a good point guard. I don't doubt at all, that he has got the ability to pass, run plays, drive and dish, defend etc.

It's just more of a mental thing now. If he thinks like a pass first point guard (with the occasional shoot first attitude), I think he can be pretty successful. So far though, he mostly has had a shoot first attitude. Im not sure how, but it would be nice to have him change his mentality to that of a point guard, not a SG. More games, like his game against the Grizzlies would be nice.

Kinda like Iverson (but of course a poor poor man's version), who does have the ability to run the point, but has chosen mostly not too his whole career, I think there's not doubt Bobby Brown can at least be a decent point guard in this league.
