My ideal offseason

Kings trade Nocioni to the Bucks for Gadzuric (expiring).

Why for Bucks?
They get depth at SF and PF. Noce is an added veteran presence for a Bucks team that is clearly shooting for yearly playoff contention at this point. Adding Noce for a piece they really don't use in Gadzuric would seem to make sense although I'm not a Bucks fan so I'm clearly not in the "know". Bucks are not a real FA destination so freeing up cap dollars is probably not a big priority.

Why for Kings?
Free up cap space so we can re-sign our own core players down the road. Kings can either keep Gadz on the roster or cut him, I don't really care. Attaining Gadz would be all about opening up future dollars and getting rid of Noce IMO.

Kings trade Hawes to the Rockets for the 14th pick.

Why for the Rockets?
There's no guarentee that Yao Ming will ever be the same and the only other "center" the Rockets have is Chuck Hayes. Also, consider Martin and Hawes' have chemistry as their games were complimentary. Like the Bucks, the Rockets seem to have a win-now approach and Hawes has 3 years of NBA experience under his belt and is still very young, which they might prefer to a rookie big who can't immediately contribute. Finally, Hawes seems a big that Adelman can utilize.

Why for the Kings?
The Kings need a center but Spencer doesn't really seem like the guy for the job. Landry, Thompson, and even Brockman are solid pieces as you generally know what to expect from them, but Hawes has always been a wild card. The Kings need a shot-blocker to compliment Landry as he's undersized for his position. A big w/ great reach and shot-blocking skills should certainly be available at this spot (see below).
-----
The Kings get lucky (approx 30% shot at landing #1 or #2 pick) and select either John Wall or Evan Turner. For sake of this thread, lets assume Turner.

Why for Kings?
First off this assumes the Kings get the 1st or 2nd pick. Turner is a well-rounder young player who should compliment Tyreke nicely. The Kings would have great backcourt size, defense, youth, potential, and versatility. W/ time their greatest weakness, perimeter shooting, will significantly improve as history shows again and again that this facet of the game is usually quite improvable in a couple years w/ enough reps.
-----
Kings select best defensive-minded center available w/ rockets' 14th pick:
Aldrich, Udoh, Whiteside, Sanders, or Alabi. Lets assume Whiteside for now as this is where he's projected on draftexpress. Although there is a degree of risk w/ Whiteside, as he reportedly has attitude issues, the upside is huge. Whiteside's rebounding/shot-blocking should translate to to the NBA level as he is 7 feet tall w/ a reported 7'6" wingspan and is very athletic for his size--a la Tyson Chandler before the injuries.
-----
Kings make a huge FA spash by signing Rudy Gay.

Why for Kings?
The Kings have plenty of free agent dollars to acquire a premier free agent and Rudy Gay has many attributes that fit what the Kings are looking for IMO. Some may argue that the SF position is already set w/ Greene and Casspi, but I think Greene will develop into a versatile utility guy who can play 2-4 whereas Gay and Casspi are purer 3's, so this shouldn't be a huge issue. I mean, when has too much talent really been an issue? Anyway, Gay is an incredilby explosive athlete, young, and very, very long (7'3" wingspan). Rudy can fill it up offensively and play that second scorer role along w/ Turner.
-----
Kings then sign Kyrylo Fesenko in free agency.

Why for Kings?
Considering that Whiteside may be a project and have attitude issues, it would seem wize to add extra depth at center. In other words, if Whiteside starts acting out, Fesenko can step in until Whiteside gets the drift. Fesenko is young, a full-sized center, and has some upside. The Kings should have enough remaining FA dollars to sign him.
-----
Kings select best player available w/ 33rd pick.

Lets assume Jarvis Varnado is still available at this spot. Kings get another long-armed big who can change a lot of shots at the rim.

2010-11 Depth Chart:

Evans/Udrih
Turner/Garcia
Gay/Greene/Casspi
Landry/Varnado/Brockman
Thompson/Whiteside/Gadzuric

Any thoughts on this? Do you like the team above? Are these moves realistic? Perhaps some steps are more realistic than others? Your feedback is welcome!

skills - wise that is a very promising team and I would make all of those moves, however, they drown Brockman in the rotation. I would like to see more of Brockman if he is brought back, and he certainly deserves to show if he has improved.

I don't see Houston trading for Hawes ... they have another Kings center on their mind. If they can get him relatively cheap, and the probably can, they will sign Brad Miller this season.

And that makes sense, Miller knows Rick's system, he's a servicable backup center at this point, and the Rockets will limit Yao's time next year ... and when Yao is off the court, they will want Martin to keep putting up the points. Miller and Martin have a great chemistry and Miller is great at setting up Martin. Seems like a smart fit and unless somebody decides to overpay Miller, I'd bank on him being a Rocket.

:D

Still probably won't sign with the Kings though.
