These are trades that I wouldn’t mind seeing by the trade deadline. I’d be happy if one got done, so they aren’t ordered or connected, just possible trades that make sense in my mental universe…
Trade:
Kings Out: To Nets
Mike Bibby
Kenny Thomas
Francisco Garcia
Kings In: From Nets
Jason Kidd
Sean Williams
Why Kings do it: Jason Kidd is a winner. He still has plenty of juice left in the tank and that trade would give us a great window to compete. Long term, his salary comes off the books in a large expiring contract, and it could be free to lure other free agents. Sean Williams is the type of young PF/C that the Kings should kill to get. The Maloofs are Vegas guys, couldn’t they set something like that up?
Why Kings don’t do it: If Francisco Garcia means that much to them that they would nix this steal trade, then we’re in some serious trouble. Oh yeah, and Jason Kidd is a PG in his mid 30s…
Would the Nets consider this?: Well, they would be getting a younger PG with skills to replace Jason Kidd. Bibby and Marcus Williams would complement each other pretty well, and this would give them a stellar small ball lineup to hide their anemic big guys. Bibby, Carter, Garcia, and Jefferson running with Kristic would be a very fun team to watch, and Garcia has that potential stuff. General gist is that NJ would have better offers for Kid (is Bynum still available? But can’t a King’s fan dream…)
Trade:
Kings Out: To Nuggets
Ron Artest
Kenny Thomas (Included in every fantasy trade of mine J)
Mikki Moore
Kings In: From Nuggets
Marcus Camby
Nene Hilario (or is it just Nene?)
Why Kings do it: Gives us a beast of a front court, with players who can actually rebound and block shots (see Marcus Camby). This trade also brings a young stud PF that we haven’t had since a certain #4 was playing. Sure he can’t shoot jumpers as well as Cweb, but he is capable of striking fear in the hearts of any player dumb enough to try and take a charge from him. Oh, and did I mention this would improve our rebounding exponentially, while removing Mr. Moore and Mr. Thomas respectively?
Why Kings don’t do it: Ron Artest is good, but is he a good enough piece to keep if this option came up? Marcus Camby also has some injury history I think that I might have heard about…Given the Kings luck, both players would be out for the season the first five minutes they hit the court.
Would Nuggets Consider this?: Probably not, but wouldn’t the addition of Artest be fun to watch with Iverson, Carmelo, and Linus F. Kleiza…Artest would bring teriffic wing defense against the Ginobili’s of the world, but the Nuggets would loose that shot blocking swagger in the middle. Maybe Mikki Moore could pound his chest, flex his muscles, and the other teams would be to intimidated to drive to the hole…
Trade:
Kings Out:
Brad Miller (To Bulls)
Spencer Hawes (To Bulls)
Kenny Thomas (To Bulls)
John Salmons (To Warriors)
Kings In:
Stephen Jackson (From Warriors)
Joakim Noah (From Bulls)
Chris Duhon (From Bulls)
Ben Wallace (From Bulls)
Why Kings do it: Crazy trade yes, but wouldn’t it be fun to put Stephen Jackson, Ron Artest, and Ben Wallace all out on the court together. The defense would be solid, and they would be able to fight each other whenever they wanted. This team could go really up tempo with Martin, Jackson, Garcia, Mikki, and Beno, or it could slow it down and win games in the 80s because the other team would be afraid to score against Wallace, Jackson, and Artest.
Why Kings don’t do it: To prevent total freakin’ anarchy, raining fire, brimstone, dogs and cats living together…you get the idea.
Would the Warriors and Bulls consider this?: Well, the warriors would love to have the stability of a John Salmons, especially as he is playing out of his mind, but Stephen Jackson is playing well also, and he is such a leader on that team, it would be risky to move him. The Bulls are playing poorly, and this would give them post scoring, but would mess up their financial flexibility for the forseable future. So I think that it would take a miracle to see a move like this.
