WELL ISN'T THIS A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!!

MONARCHS WELCOME CHELSEA NEWTON AND
LA'TANGELA ATKINSON TO SACRAMENTO

As a loyal Monarchs fan, we wanted you to be among the first to know the Sacramento Monarchs have received former Monarchs Guard Chelsea Newton, in a trade with the Chicago Sky. The Monarchs received Chelsea, along with Chicago's 2007 second round draft pick, in exchange for Sacramento's 2007 first round draft pick. For those of you that experienced the 2005 WNBA Season, you will remember Chelsea's stellar defense was instrumental in the Monarchs Championship run. We know that you will welcome Chelsea back with open arms!

We are also pleased to share that the Monarchs have picked up La'Tangela Atkinson from the Indiana Fever, in exchange for the Monarchs 2008 second round draft pick. La'Tangela is another great young talent that we believe will fit into our defensive style of play nicely and look forward to her joining the team this Spring.

We spoke with Chelsea this morning and she is so happy to be returning to Sacramento. Check out
SacramentoMonarchs.com for the latest information on the newest Monarchs players and to view the full release.

Thanks and Go Monarchs!

Wow! What a trade! I never saw that one coming! But a big hearty "Welcome BacK" to Chelsea!

I don't know much about La'Tangela except that she played for the Indiana Fever last year. She was a first-rounder (9th overall) pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft.

So, in short, the Monarchs got some young talent that is still experienced in the WNBA, and they got those players pretty cheaply.

I wonder how will this affect the Monarchs' picks in next month's draft?

Could Whiz be to the Monarchs what Bill Walsh was to the S.F. 49ers?

Anyway, very good job, Monarchs' front office! Take the rest of the day off!

:)

In honor of Chelsea's return home to Sacramento, I am officially on the University of Rutgers bandwagon after their amazing upset of #1 Duke Blue Devils this afternoon. What a great basketball game, and for those who watched, you saw Chelsea on the sidelines as an Assistant to Coach Stringer. So with that said, to Coach C. Vivian Stringer (what an absolute class lady), to the newest Monarch Ms. Chelsea, to little Epiphanny Prince who hit the game winner........

GO SCARLETT KNIGHTS!!!!:D

That was a great game...Newton looked fabulous on the bench:)
Too bad for the 2 missed free throws...must be tough going out like that.

Anyone checkin out the Candace Parker show? I sense a dunk coming real soon! Tenn. looks strong.

Hey, great news! Newton was my favorite Monarch! Then, when she left, the title went to Erin. Now, since Erin is gone, how fitting is it that Newton is back???

YAY!!!

I would like to once again offer a sincere congratulations to C. Vivian Stringer, our very own Chelsea Newton and the Lady Scarlett Knights of Rutgers University. On the the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME against the powerhouse C. Parker and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Although I do think that the Volunteers may be a little to much for the scrappy Rutgers team, it has been a great run nonetheless.

Win or no, gotta congratulate them for beating some tough teams to make it to the finals. Play your heart out, Rutgers. Give Tennessee a battle they won't soon forget.

First off...
Welcome Home Chelsea...

We Missed you. I cried a little. Then I smiled a little...

Since I have been accused of being hard on Whiz... I have agreed to admit openly... This was a very good move by an attentive GM. Who may not have been looking for his next job. Sorry it is still gonna take me some time to work thru all of that.

But this move definately gets Whiz a few Brownie Points.

Finally The Scarlet Knights...

Love Me some C. Vivian Stringer way back to her days at IOWA. She is a tough Cat. I never thought I would say this but I am pulling for a Coach over THE GREAT PAT SUMMITT. I know they have had a drought but C. Viv is due.

Geaux Knights!!!
