Well, it's a new WNBA season about to begin!
Yesterday's
SacBee reported that Mercury star player Diana Taurasi is iffy for Saturday's game, due to a thigh injury. The Bee described it as a "high-thigh hip flexor". (Doesn't that sounds like the name of a dance move or a workout machine?

)
So, if Taurasi's out, that would make the Monarchs' job much easier!
And, as the winner of the Monarchs' prediction game during the playoff post-season last year, here are my picks for Saturday's game.
Game score: Monarchs beat Mercury, 77-60
Top Monarchs scorer: Griffith, 20
Top Monarchs rebounds: Brunson, 9
Top Monarchs assists: Ticha, 4
Top Monarchs blocks: Griffith, 3
Top Monarchs steals: Haynie, 3
Monarchs turnovers (TO) - 19
Monarchs field goal % - 45%
Monarchs 3 pt. % - 41%
Monarchs free throw % - 80%
Other Predictions:
* Ann Meyers will say Lisa Leslie is still the "reigning MVP": 10
* Nancy Lieberman will say, "I predicted that the Monarchs were going to go all the way last season": 5
* ABC-TV announcers will mention the possibility of Monarchs head coach John Whisenant being the next Kings head coach: 4
* How many people who didn't go to the game will complain that ABC-TV didn't show enough footage of the pre-game ring ceremony: Too many! (but probably justified)
* SacBee writer Marcos Breton regretting that he belittled the WNBA in an article last year: Zero!
