Monarchs roll on.....

Awesome win tonight! Nicole powell found her offense. DeMaya & Yo were solid. Brunson scored a career high in points. So far another successful road trip. On a down note Kara sprained that same ankle again & DeMaya injured her knee. Lets hope we get pur players back healthy asap! One more game then a much needed break.

Congrats to our MONARCH'S!!!:)

This sounded like a GREAT team win! Everyone did something good tonight. 4 out of 5 starters in double figures. When was the last time we saw that kind of offense? 80 pts!!! I think that's the best part of this victory. The Monarchs found their offense again. And on top of that, kept Detroit's big ol' front line pretty quiet. Well, except for the newly acquired Plenette Pierson, who I think wanted to send a message to Phoenix.

Ticha finally hits 1,500 assists. New career high for Rebekkah Brunson with 14pts.

Unfortunately, just as Kara was getting her groove back, she re-injures that pesky ankle :(

I think DeMya will be fine to play on Sunday, but I think it was good that the team didn't have to rely on her to score all the points tonight.

And welcome back Nicole Powell!! We really needed that extra boost. Even better that she mostly created her own shot tonight, these weren't all behind the 3pt line.

Is it just me, or is DeMya probably the biggest "drama queen/diva" in women's sports today. Think about it, is there anybody that is more animated in her reaction.

Love her, she is the best player on the team this year, but man when Koz and Krista was describing her knee injury and painting a picture of how she was reacting....I could just see it in my mind. Tears flowing, head sprawled back with her hair flowing in the Detroit breeze, the whole front line carrying her off of the floor as her knee is exploding. But I knew she would be OK:p .

DeMya is great, but man can she act!!! ;)

No doubt that she has a flair for the drama! I was actually thinking she would return in the second half. I was more worried about how the rest of the Monarchs would respond. I knew DeMya would be fine.

She does have a flare for the Dramatic

This was a good win.

Groovy stuff all around...

But remember I thought she banged her Knee in practice. That is a very painful injury if not one that sidelines you, If she banged her knee again then I can see how that would be very painful.

I have done it, and nothing feels right in that area for awhile.

And She may be indeed a drama Queen... But she is our Drama Queen. And not many people in the West are tougher than she is.

Ditto to everything above.

Indeed Welcome Back Nicole... We missed you.

I enjoyed listening to Koz and Krista on this one, but I would love to have seen all that offense return. Monarchs are now 11-4. I am really loving this team and the way that they play.

That game sounded a lot nastier in the car than what I've been reading. I wasn't able to listen to the whole game, but for the period I was listening, there were hard fouls, rough play, technicals, and injures. Was I the only who got that impression? Good to see the team got the win, especially after all that happened.

Go Nicole! I especially liked the jumper when play resumed after Walker went down. I love that girl (Walker) and her theatrics. She’s such a personality.

game report from an eastern fan

I went to the Monarch/Shock game last night at the Palace in Detroit. What a game! Thought I ought to drop the faithful a line about how it went.

First a little introduction. This is my 1st post, hope it's ok. I initially started following the Monarchs this season because I am a huge Kristen Haynie fan. Somewhere along the way I got hooked on the rest of the team also. I now follow all the games online with live audio webcasts. I am really excited about how the season is going.

The Palace last night was rocking! There were 3 whole sections wearing Haynie t-shirts right behind the Monarch bench & I noticed they were cheering for the entire team. Nice to see Haynie's smile again and watch her play. Thought it was really cool that coach W. gave her a lot of playing time last night. She had a couple of her patented steals and had a nice little game although it looks like her shot is still a little off.

It was a very physical game with lots of technicals (5). Bill Laimbeer was thrown out in the 1st half, and a Detroit player got a technical also for arguing with the refs. Monarch defense was so stifling that they were really frustrated. Was a lot of tough bumping and grinding under the basket with Monarchs winning the battle and Detroit losing their cool.

Monarchs started out on fire--seemingly making every shot--and never let up the whole game. Nicole Powell looks like she got her groove back! The best moment came with about 3 min. left in the game. Shock had put together a rally and pulled to within 4. Haynie started the play with a great pass, Tisha cut to the outside--quick pass to her--and swoosh--nothing but net on a 3-pointer. That was the final nail in the coffin for the Shock. Perfect execution.

Just a note on DeMya--she seemed Ok later in the game, she was riding the bike behind the Monarch bench. Looked OK. Not sure about Lawson, although she walked off the court like it wasn't hurt too badly.

Keep rolling Monarchs!!

Thanks for the "live" report and welcome to Monarchs mania, too. :D I really like Haynie as an addition to our team. Great hustle and looks fearless out there!

Welcome to the board, Hayniac! That was the first time I heard that term, 'Hayniac,' but I'm thinking about making up a sign using it. Let's just say we are very happy to have Kristen here in Sacramento this summer. And from what I've heard, she's happy to be here, too. (I wonder how she'll feel about it when she gets back here tomorrow, as summer officially started while the team was off on their road trip -- we're getting into the scorchingly hot days now.)

Anyway, join in on the conversation whenever, and thanks for the "live from the eyes" report!
