Mitch "the rock" Richmond HOF

Excellent news for the franchise.

KJ was also up for induction. Wonder if they can make it a 2-for Sacto (even though he'd obviously go in as a Sun).

While this is Mitch's honor, should also note that would only further underscore my belief that Webb will make it too and Sacto will have had 2 HOFers during its NBA years. Along with a budding one now.

Yup. Although I consider CWebb and Cuz as better than Mitch, let's remember that Mitch started his career with about 10 years (more?) averaging 22 points or more a game. It's hard to ignore.

I still don't know: I think that Webber was a better player than Richmond, but Rock has one of the two "magic numbers" (20,000+ points), and a ring. I happen to think that Webber deserves it, but I'm not at all convinced that he'll actually get it.

Being a good citizen may enter into the equation and CWebb doesn't exactly fit.

I don't buy magic numbers much anymore. They may have been the excuse needed to let Rock in despite him having little winning on the record, but Webber was a more famous/prominent/notorious/talked about player from really his high school days on. Famous college player, famous pro player, MVP candidate at his peak, led a famous elite team, had the epic tragic fall. If Mitch, who was more solid relentless pro than brilliant all timer can make it, its almost impossible Webber, exceeding for the same franchise, would not. Webb has even further ingratiated himself into the NBA's who's who structure with his post career work. Unless the illegal recruitment thing is taken very seriously indeed, he'll make it.

Are you insinuating there is something wrong with Rodman? ;) Remind me what crimes he committed. Other than being terribly weird, I don't remember anything bad about his personal life except a bad looking wedding dress.

I know, right? Seems like a great guy!

I know, right? Seems like a great guy!

This was long after his basketball career. Seriously, during his career what did he do wrong? Recently he has seen plenty of TV time and comes across as a guy of average intelligence (if that) who seems very socially awkward and drinks too much. He is very odd and drunk but has not cost his college team their entire record when he played there. As out of control as he has seemed in his personal life, he never was arrested for pot possession. CWebb, who I consider the subject and not Rodman, has had a checkered past. I know a lot of very charming con men so his great smile does not make him a good person just as Boogie's scowl does not make him a bad person. CWebb's TV experience may rehabilitate his reputation but during the time he and Rodman played basketball, Rodman was less the source of trouble or at least so we know. He certainly isn't the only alcoholic to play basketball. CWebb showed incredibly poor judgment. Is he a bad guy? I doubt it but certainly the HOF folks will have much to consider and I suspect he will qualify.

I cannot imagine Cuz missing the HOF barring injury but he has a whole career ahead of him so we'll see. I suspect by the end of his career his "troubles" will be forgotten just as we seem to have forgotten CWebb's.

I have no idea where you were in the 90s. :p

Rodman would have been kicked out of the league today. Several times over. He was chaos personified. With a rifle in the bed of a pickup truck wearing a wedding dress.

Webb's charity work (both publicized and not) along with his philanthropic work could also enter the equation. I disagree pretty strongly with your assessment that Webb isn't a good citizen so I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that part. :)

I was working and a lot of the time was starting a web site about the Kings.

CWebb may not fit into the equation and I think some people may not think he is a good citizen. Ask the alumni of Michigan. He better be doing philanthropic work considering how he hurt Michigan.

THE ROCK definitively belongs in the HALL ! He was as his nickname suggests. He was as solid as they come. He was a cold blooded killer from outside. His defense gave other 2 guards fits! He CARRIED those Sacto teams. I watched every game and The Rock always was on a Roll ! Don't see players like Mitch much anymore who are great players on both sides of the ball.
