Miller not competing because of injuries

From the article
"Colangelo also confirmed that seven USA Senior National Team players would be unavailable to compete this summer because of injuries. Those players included Gilbert Arenas (Washington Wizards); Joe Johnson (Atlanta Hawks); Brad Miller (Sacramento Kings); Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers); Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets); Paul Pierce (Boston Celtics) and Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat)."

They say "injuries," but I really don't think Brad is injured (not like some of the other players, who are disabled injured), I just think that his game isn't what the USA team is looking for. I think that Brad brought rebounding and 15-18 foot shooting to the USA team last year, the same stuff that he lacked this past season for the Kings. I guess he's being replaced with athletic youth who can actually score (Oden and Durant) who many Kingsfans wish they could see in a Kings Uniform.

Some may could argue that the USA team kept Brad Miller in shape during last summer. I think it was one of many factors leading to his plantar fasciitis. This makes me wonder what shape Brad will be in when the next season starts. Then again, most likely barring injury, he will have a better year than what happened last year.

If I can recall correctly, I think Brad made a statement like he didn't want to play for (or though he would be dropped from) the USA team earlier in the year when he was recovering. I just want Brad back to the point where he was running the pick and roll/pick and shoot with Bibby to perfection. Also known as when he had athletic ability to drive, could knock down the open jumper, and pass the ball to Bibby back in the day when he could make a lay-up.

Brad's gotta rest his foot if he has plantar fascitis, regardless of whether he's technically injured right now. Hopefully he comes back in better shape. Lifting weights wouldn't hurt either, but that might cut into precious fishing time.

That's what pisses me off about Brad. His utter lack of desire to improve his conditioning or his skills is annoying. He got his contract and now he can fish, drink beer and hang out with his buddies all Summer and not work on his game and never have to worry about anything.

Look, its not like he only fishes all the damn time...he goes huntin and ATVn too.

While I am not the biggest Miller fan on this board, I do think that Brad still has something to offer an NBA team. He is not as worthless as some appear to believe.

He, nor the others, has necessarily been dropped from the team. They are just not available for the summer. His conditioning is terrible, but his foot issue is not from lack of conditioning. If it was, than Doug Chrisitie would never have had the same problem.

The only place where we are weaker than center is at the 4. There is no doubt that we need to improve at his position, but I am actually sad that he is not playing this summer.

I've corrected the title of this thread to correctly reflect the report. He hasn't been "dropped" as the original title said.

As far as people taking pot shots at him goes, I guess it's his turn now...

Silly Supes. Letting facts get in the way of an argument.

:p

We went through this plantar fasciitis thing with Doug and I can still remember all the discussion about rest, possible surgery (which I believe Doug ended up having), etc. And Peja had problems, too. It's a real ailment but for some reason I think some people don't realize how truly painful and debilitating it can be...

It is really painful....especially when you get up in the middle of the night to take a leak:o .

Ask Miles about it....he has been through it. He also does not recommend a certain business that likes to use the Kings in their marketing plan.

Doug did have a procedure done but it wasn't surgery. It was some sort of electrode therapy that was very painful and he had to stay off of it completley for like a week after that. He had it done twice that summer.

Rest and therapy are usually #1 and #2 for making it better (some folks argue the order). Both times I had it (probably mild compared to these guys) rest was the cure.

Doug had the planter fasciitis and I think he had the same treatment that Pedja eventually had. But he had the surgery for bone spurs on his ankles.

I've never had plantar fasciitis, but from people who have, it sounds like it can be extremely painful to just walk.

Anyway, I though Brad had already talked to Colangelo a couple fo months ago about not playing this summer and Colangelo said he was okay with it, after talking to Brad? I'll have to try and find it, I guess.

Okay, here are some threads:

Get a coach in here that can utilize hie skills and we will see a much improved Brad.

With that said, Ryle is right on. Brad just doesnt show the desire, from my distant vantage point, to improve his skills and conditioning.
